The only way you are going to be able to evaluate mid major coaches is by looking at the actual product on the court. What they did, how they did it, with what players, and against whom. The stat sheet isn't going to tell you jack shit.

I'm not saying #14 is legit... but the man wins quickly after he walks into shitty situations. Even if they're not the 14th (It may be 16?) best team in the nation, that's a huge accomplishment

but what kind of offense they win with shows alotif its some kind of slowdown offense we are going to be back to the "fire herb" game

At A&M he ran a slowdown offense, but that was becuase of talent. A&M was friggin terrible. At UTEP, he was wide open. I believe they finished the season top 10 in scoring his last year there. (Someone posted here earlier they averaged 80 points per game)

^^agreed. offense is very important. The new coach has got to realize that sometimes the only way to win a game is to outpace an opponent. We can't have another herb who stubbornly sticks by a wooden, fragile, unproductive offense because we have no plan B.We have to be flexible and adapt to the flow of whatever seems to work.[Edited on April 13, 2006 at 10:17 PM.
