Might as well go for him. He can get pro talent and at least get us back to the Sweet 16...i doubt gavin will try to choke him...
4/13/2006 9:42:45 PM
they dont let pros play in college though
4/13/2006 9:45:02 PM
If he tells Gavin to put some jerk on his passes, then Gavin might have to choke a bitch
4/13/2006 9:45:27 PM
hell, ill take a carmelo-type for a year if we could win the ACC...maybe he can spot one of those...

What is so good about Carlesimo? I know he coached Seton Hall in the 80s and got choked by sprewell or something. that's about it.
4/13/2006 10:18:18 PM
what's so good about any of these schlubs?PJ is just as good as Haith, Dizzy, Marshall, Lavin, etc.why not PJ?
4/13/2006 10:45:13 PM
4/13/2006 10:45:43 PM
pj is a better recruiting selland hes been to the final four and won the big east
4/13/2006 10:51:31 PM
Been to the national title game and should have won it too.
4/14/2006 12:52:30 AM
PJ would be a great hire. He brought Seton Hall to the top of the Big East and was a chris weber time out from winning it all. Not that many college coaches have had the success in the NBA that he had at Portland that have made that jump. I think he would be a good sell to recruits and could definitely develop our players. I wonder if he still has that intensity. He is getting old.Anyone know how much this guy makes?[Edited on April 14, 2006 at 7:09 PM. Reason : s]

PJ's a great coach. But he's a pussy...he should have put a cap in Sprewell's ass.I don't know how I'd feel about a PJ hire. He's a little older than I'd like and he's been out of the college game for a little while. He'd have to assemble a staff of good assistans/recruiters. But seeing that he's been in the NBA for a while, he shouldn't be scare of the whole Duke/UNC thing.I can honestly say that I wouldn't be dissapointed if he we got him.

it was a joke... I know Webber wasn't on that team. Too bad for Seton Hall.[Edited on April 14, 2006 at 7:58 PM. Reason : english]
4/14/2006 7:52:24 PM
joke
4/14/2006 7:53:27 PM
I've thought about this Carlesimo hire a little bit more...and I'm liking it a little better.I said earlier I didn't like PJ because he was a little old. I've been leaning towards guys who are a little bit younger and will hopefully build and end their careers at State some 20 years down the road. However...I think we have some potential guys who have been on the staff at State or have played at State, who still need some time to develop and could possibly come back to later on down the road.So hear me out....PJ stays here for 5-10 years...builds the program back up, takes us to an Elite 8 or Final 4...what have you. Then he starts to get calls from NBA teams or just decides he's ready to retire...and we bring in a Whittenberg, Archie/Sean Miller, Towe, or other former pack coach/player who is now more established and has more coaching experience (and hopefully they're good coaches by now).Just something to throw out there.[Edited on April 14, 2006 at 8:08 PM. i agree 100%and by the time we're ready to move on, the people who are all bashing Archie right now will be eating crow because then he'll be a successful mid-major coach with a few Sweet 16s on his resume
4/14/2006 8:13:09 PM
^^lmaoi was reading packpride too, and i saw that post, then came here and was like wtf deja vu1. Gillispie2. Haith3. PJ4. Floyd
4/14/2006 10:13:10 PM
we're fucked, we didnt get barnes or calipari, we're fucked it dont matter if we get PJ or not....Cedric's goin pro, and we're fucked. thats all there is to it!
4/14/2006 11:49:06 PM
in other words, hes perfect.he can coach here for a few years, and by that time, whittenburg will be ready.
4/15/2006 12:49:25 AM
even tho i made fun of him so much when latrell pwnt him, i'd love to have him here
4/15/2006 12:59:14 AM
start sending emails to FowlerWE WANT PJ!!!!!!!
4/15/2006 1:03:14 AM
latrell sprewell is garbage.what about Paul Silas? oh, nevermind. GET PJ!
4/15/2006 1:08:01 AM
why do you people insist on nc state alums to come back and coach?i'd rather have a good coach
4/15/2006 1:16:28 AM
like who? Rick Barnes?AHAHA[Edited on April 15, 2006 at 1:19 AM. Reason : .]
4/15/2006 1:18:52 AM
gillispiewhat makes you think whit would do a damn thing here?
4/15/2006 1:21:04 AM
I, for one, do not think he or Haith would do a good job hereat this point in time, I will only settle for Steve Fisher, PJ Carlesimo or Andy Kennedy
4/15/2006 1:26:20 AM
^kennedy just took the Ole Miss job. im pretty positive gillispie is going to stay in texas. the only way we could get him is by paying 2 mil, and theres no way in hell we should pay a guy like him that much.
4/15/2006 1:31:28 AM
^^based on what?
4/15/2006 1:37:14 AM
it's not too late. we can offer him more than they canalas, I will fix my list:Fisher, Carlesimo or Cliff Ellis (national coach of the year in '99 AND recruited Marco Killingsworth)
4/15/2006 1:38:01 AM
kruk usually pulls things out of his ass without much explanation
4/15/2006 1:38:31 AM
i've noticed that
4/15/2006 1:39:00 AM
brief explanation:gillispie would be too pricey and he really hasn't proven anything yetand the biggest argument in support of Haith is that he's a good recruiter. that's great and all, but what has he accomplished as a coach?
4/15/2006 1:44:21 AM
well he has done better than expected at miami and has only been a HC for 2 years.
4/15/2006 1:53:25 AM
4/15/2006 1:57:06 AM
4/15/2006 1:59:00 AM
there was a point in k's career where he had only been a HC for 2 yearsimagine that
4/15/2006 2:01:30 AM
coach K sucks
4/15/2006 2:04:01 AM
you're right.Haith is the second cominglet's dish out $1.5 on him
4/15/2006 2:05:49 AM
such an extremistand we aren't really in a position to gauge how much someone is worth and pay them that. we have to pay what it takes to get a good coach to actually come here
4/15/2006 2:18:17 AM
It wont take 1.5 million to get Haith here. If he truly WANTS to be here, we can lace his contract with incentives. I say we pay haith around a mil, does anyone know what he makes now?
4/15/2006 2:25:42 AM
less than a mil i would imaginei think we could get him here for around 1.1 or so
4/15/2006 2:30:33 AM
I fucking hate PJ.But then again I was a Duke fan in '88.I had to watch DFerry go down on a 15" black & white tv in the living room.Abdelnaby and Laettner fouled out and then Clay Buckley forgot to box out on a free throw. It hurts just thinking about it.
4/15/2006 4:24:52 AM
^If you are 23, then you were 6 years old watching that Duke team play.
4/15/2006 5:24:51 PM
^ he collaspes the same way herb's team did this yearwhy do you think they fired his ass in cleveland? because the cavs choked the regular season and missed the playoffs
4/15/2006 6:21:03 PM
4/15/2006 7:12:50 PM
16 wins...and though Fordham is a middle of the pack A10 team... they have made huge strides with Whitt as their coach. I remember a few years ago when St. Bonaventure had to forfeit their season... and that doubled Fordhams win total to like 4.All that being said... I hope Whitt isn't considered unless we strike out with another 3 or 4 coaches.
4/15/2006 7:39:24 PM
there are better A-10 coaches we could havehell, ill take Bobby Lutz before we get a .500 A-10 guy
4/15/2006 7:46:15 PM
PJ would love it here. Coach K and Roy are two of his best friends. I'm sure he'd love to get down here and play them all the time.
