The more I think about this man, the more I am starting to believe he would be a perfect fit here. He is from North Carolina, can recruit like a motherfucker and while at Miami has accomplished more than expected. He also has a bitchin' website. So, bring on Frank Haithhttp://www.coachhaith.com[Edited on April 12, 2006 at 5:15 PM. Reason : .]

does anyone care anymore?
4/12/2006 5:15:05 PM
Possible Coaches on the list now
4/12/2006 5:15:19 PM
no, no one cares, that is why there isn't a single thread dedicated to the coaching search.
4/12/2006 5:15:33 PM
i have been saying from the beginning that this guy has some good traitsgreat recruiterminority coach (might give us an advantage against the ultimate white-boy coaches down the road)coached in the ACC, familiar with arenas, travel, recruiting landscapeyoung, and passionateetc.maybe not perfect, but I think everyone just started pissing on haith early b/c they thought we had a chance at Barnes/Calipari/Wright/Tubby/etc.....think it is time for a lot of fans to re-asses this, and look at him objectively!
4/12/2006 5:18:09 PM
plz no to frank

4/12/2006 5:20:11 PM
I wouldn't be too upset with Frank, but only if we struck out on Gillispie. I think Gillispie is our man now, and if we can get him, I'll be super-excited.If not, lets get Haith...who I think, given time, may turn out to be a heckuva coach
4/12/2006 5:21:08 PM
4/12/2006 5:21:13 PM
he'd finally have a decent big man to work with, and maybe he could bring some of those south florida speedsters northward... eh, i'll entertain the idea for a while
4/12/2006 5:21:48 PM
4/12/2006 5:25:29 PM
He has zippy experince as a head coach
4/12/2006 5:27:26 PM
We won't get Gillispie. We can't out bid TAMU and he is happy living in the state of Texas. I really like Haith and think he would make a perfect fit.

He's still in the lower half of the conference, so I hope we can give him what he wants.
4/12/2006 5:42:32 PM
4/12/2006 5:44:35 PM
his sister was the volleyball coach and assistant girls bball coach at my high school (western alamance)...she could play ball in her day as well...i support frank haith
4/12/2006 5:52:48 PM
did anyone read the article linked above?haith is out of the picture.

IF IF IF we offer Haith.....he probably will not even think twice about it and be our next coach...and at this point...i dont have a problem with it...that is as long as Jay Wright definitively says he does not want to be considered.

Article on why NC State fans should want Haithhttp://www.sportingnews.com/yourturn/viewtopic.php?t=82392Nothing new, really[Edited on April 12, 2006 at 6:41 PM. Reason : ]
4/12/2006 6:40:07 PM
my main issue with Haith is that he has only been a head coach for two years.
4/12/2006 6:46:07 PM
^ that and I don't like the idea of raiding members of a own conference for a head coach.
4/12/2006 6:47:26 PM
It's a little different with him though. He's been a head coach for 2 years.... but unlike a Gillespie or Turgeon/Marshall... we know what we're going to get becuase he's ACC ready. 7-9 at Miami isn't bad...actually, it's very good. The more I read on him, the more I like him. He's a Wolfpacker as well. And it's Miami...I doubt they'd care too much. [Edited on April 12, 2006 at 6:48 PM. Reason : ]

I guess my stance is if it's not Brady, I'll at least be moderately satisfied.
4/12/2006 6:48:43 PM
Larranaga, too
4/12/2006 6:53:08 PM
being in the ACC already, he knows what it's like to coach in this conference and what it is going to take to reach the top. that gives him an edge over Gillespie/Turgeon/Marshall in regards to that. the resources to succeed in basketball have to be better at NC State than Miami.
4/12/2006 6:54:14 PM
Haith has said is excited in the future at Miami but there is no mention about NC State.http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/sports/colleges/university_of_miami/14321228.htm
4/12/2006 6:56:57 PM
^you think hed say, man i appreciate this raise, but i really want to coach at NC State
4/12/2006 6:57:29 PM
no I don't unless asked and I would think the author of the story would at least pester him about any other potential coaching opportunities if anyone other than Oklahoma came calling. The writer did mention that Haith did at least listen to the call.
4/12/2006 7:03:39 PM
Why would we hire a guy that coached a team that we beat twice last year? I thought we wanted an improvement. Besides, Haith doesn't have the experience to coach at NC State.
4/12/2006 7:09:49 PM
I guess people are intrigued by his NC roots, I am not. Let him prove himself a little more there at Miami but taking a chance on Haith is not a step up from Herb.[Edited on April 12, 2006 at 7:11 PM. Reason : .]

Whats the deal with Larranaga? With alot of luck, he takes a team to the final 4 (who didnt have THAT good of a record) and now he is being considered for one of the best jobs in the ACC?
4/12/2006 7:30:26 PM
^Larranaga is this year's feel-good story. Fortunately the media doesn't get to choose our next basketball coach.
4/12/2006 7:33:14 PM
i say we offer him and see what he can do, i'm tired of hearing about big name guys then getting my hopes up and then finding out they got a raise and aren't coming. Plus I don't see any more big names that are worth getting coming here especially since rick barnes didn't.[Edited on April 12, 2006 at 7:35 PM. Reason : .]

WHO THE FUCK CARES WHERE HE CAME FROM? HE IS WORSE THAN HERB SENDEK.JUST BECAUSE HE RECRUITED DIAZ DOESN'T MEAN HE WAS A GOOD COACH
4/12/2006 7:35:54 PM
He didn't recruit Diaz
4/12/2006 7:37:45 PM
I'd be OK with Haith, but it would be hard to get excited.
4/12/2006 7:45:06 PM
^^ even worse![Edited on April 12, 2006 at 7:46 PM. Reason : also, no blacks]
4/12/2006 7:46:14 PM
No to Haith. Not now, not ever.
4/12/2006 7:46:43 PM
4/12/2006 7:46:52 PM
This is pretty impressive from that website :
4/12/2006 8:10:48 PM
4/12/2006 8:26:42 PM
seriouslymy credentials are more impressive than haith's
4/12/2006 8:28:15 PM
Haith recruited 6 McDAA's in 15 years...that's awesome.Herb recruited 5 in 10 years.
4/12/2006 8:31:07 PM
Haith = assistant. He was only responsible for 1 or 2 players of the entire recruiting base at those schoolsNot a good comparison, unless you're comparing them with Herb's assistants.
4/12/2006 8:37:04 PM
4/12/2006 8:38:49 PM
I don't know why you would not like HaithHe has an exciting offenceDevelops players on offence and defenceHas done great at Miami (considering the sizeof his bench)
