i wonder if this oculdve been posted in the thread about this topic?
4/12/2006 2:05:15 PM
sure, nobody else seems to want to though. I'm serious though....they were posting Paul Silas randomly also. He would be good.
4/12/2006 2:06:39 PM
personally, i would rather have a young mid-major coach than an NBA guy at this pointif we end up getting a Coach K, Gary Williams, Bob Knight type from the mid major ranks he would be able to stay here a long time
4/12/2006 2:08:35 PM
Phil Jackson.
4/12/2006 2:09:09 PM
Pat Riley would be the shiiiit
4/12/2006 2:09:54 PM
didnt we say that about Herb?I'm just thinking that getting a big name coach is the only way to get our fans back into basketball, get Ced to stay, and let us compete immediately
4/12/2006 2:10:13 PM
Ced is gone dudenoones getting him back
4/12/2006 2:10:41 PM
You're rightBut we may as well go balls out.
4/12/2006 2:12:50 PM
a lot of people prob. did say that about Herb, but lets not forget he was a GOOD coachhe just didn't have a lot of the swagger and attitude a lot of fans wanted; and the wins over Duke and UNC (or lack there of) didn't helpall great coaches have to get a start somewhere, usually a mid-major head coaching positionif you read the oklahoma message boards right now, the vast majority of them were fed up w/ sampson anyway and when they got capel they were extremely excitedi think the right mid-major coach can breathe life back into this program, but an NBA guy would be more attractive, no doubt
4/12/2006 2:13:27 PM
^thats all I'm saying....an NBA guy would be more attractive. I dont care though. I just want someone to come in and fire up our players. At least make it look like they're trying.

Stan Van Gundy, Paul Silas, Johnny Davis, Jeff Bzdelik, Tim Floyd, Bob Weiss, Randy Whittman, Chris Ford, Don Casey, PJ Carlesimo, Bill Cartwright, or Leony Wilkensbeen sayin this since Calipari turned us down
4/12/2006 2:16:50 PM
Name like 20 coaches and you too can look intelligent about sports.
4/12/2006 2:30:01 PM

http://www.fayettevillenc.com/article?id=230494I don't give a shit about NBA, so the only thing I know about Mike Montgomery is because of google and part of the article:
4/12/2006 3:36:14 PM
did someone honestly just suggest Michael Jordan?GTFO
4/12/2006 3:39:47 PM
Avery Johnson, he'd be entertaining.

An NBA coach would be able to attract a ton of good recruits."I've coached in the NBA and I know what it takes to make it out there. Play for me and I'll make you successful at the next level"It works for football, I don't see why it wouldn't for basketball.
4/12/2006 5:04:02 PM
I would love to have Paul Silas. He got a raw deal with the Hornets. Also he isn't coaching anywhere now is he? Just not sure if college game would be good for him.
4/12/2006 8:56:55 PM
no silas isnt coachingbut he is still getting salaries from TWO nba teams (they have to pay out the rest of his contract) as well as being a TNT analyst...i think he is probably just chillin right now
