My theory is that one of the main causes is the vertigo or motion sickness you get from being intoxicated. I believe that when your equilibrium is messed up that much, it makes you vomit. The reason i believe this is because i always experience extreme dizziness before I vomit. The dizziniess i feel is EXACTLY the same to when i get motion sick. I've gotten sick from smoking too much weed before, i've gotten sick from watching my roommates play Doom on the projector. I know that the dizziness is what caused me to throw up in both cases. That feeling is exactly the same as when I vomit because of alcohol. I often vomit when I have consumed very little alcohol, because, I think i am so motion sick.My friend here, he says that the reason you vomit when you are drunk is to expell the alcohol from your system. IE you're about to have alcohol poisoning and your body is trying to save you from it.I'm not saying that isnt true, because I know the body does in fact do that. All I"m saying is that more often than not, the cause of vomiting when drinking is from your equillibrium being out of whack. I googled it but couldnt find the answer...which is it?

your friend is right.your body is rejecting more of the drug.

if that's true why do i throw up when i've been drinking and there is no way that i'm anywhere near the legal limit? I mean anywhere near at point where I would be endangering myself. I can get nauseous off of one beer.

are you alergic to yeasts or molds?

^^ Wait a minute. You are saying that the "legal limit" is defined at the tolerance level of the person with the lowest alcohol tolerance. Nice. You vomit because your body is rejecting what it deems harmful to your system. The fact that you feel like puking after one beer should tell you something... don't drink. It's not good for your body. If you think it isn't bad for you I have this question... why do you get nauseous and puke after drinking alcohol?[Edited on April 11, 2006 at 7:27 AM. Reason : -]

^^^ how do you know you are below the legal limit? Do you just go by those cards where you look up your weight and the number of beers you've had and assume that the value there is right?

You puke obviously because you drank too much. Same thing as when you were a kid and you ate all of your halloween candy in one night, you got a belly ache and threw up. Too much of anything isn't good for the body and vomiting is just a way to get it out of your system.

i think it depends on the person - but for people who get motion sickness VERY easily (like me...) i believe that it is the fact that your equilibrium gets off a bit when you drink so it makes you sick, not necessarily just the alcohol itself. i've found that when i take a dramamine before drinking, i'm able to drink more without getting sick (or as sick).

your body expells things it rejects

i've had times when i only had like 2 beers and randomly thrown up. it's only happened twice or 3 times ever in my life, but it's happenedtypically i can hold tons more than that... so I don't know if it's always just the amount of alcohol. it's probably a combination of things, such as environment, what you've had to eat, what type of drink, AND how much alcohol. also, a ton of liquid in your stomach, say 6 beers, is an awful lot.
4/11/2006 12:20:10 PM
i don't know about the other things, but i do know that alcohol is one of the few substances that the stomach can actually absorb, and it causes gastritis. i don't know if that would cause you to vomit right away, but it contributes to the hangover. also, there's a certain part of your brain called the emetic center that can sense toxins in the blood and cause you to vomit.

I think it's a combination of the body rejecting the chemical, and also of just a sore stomach. Alcohol can burn the inside of your stomach, and thus make it much more sensitive to things that are already in there.
4/11/2006 12:41:24 PM
we all know that alcohol can be really damaging, and vomiting is a way our bodies protect themselves. however, i think that motion sickness can affect you first - before you've consumed the amount of alcohol that your body would force you to reject. that's just been my experience...

you arent having fun until you throw up

PUKEING RALLEY!
4/11/2006 7:47:07 PM
i'm thinking that taking a dramamine before drinking is a really, really bad idea.
4/11/2006 7:50:46 PM
I've drunk to the point of puking but I was feeling zero motion sickness
4/11/2006 7:59:24 PM
I think it's a combination of the two, including how much you drink and how fast you drink it.As far as the motion sickness thing, it's all in the ear.
