ok, no changes to my computer hardware recently.the issue is this: at random times, my computer will shut off. not shutdown, just black out. when i hit the power on button the computer won't turn on, (but my front panel still shows green LED which means the psu is still outputting power) i have to manually turn off the psu in the back, manually turn the psu back on, THEN hit the power on and the computer will start up fine.so my question is, is this symptoms of a failing motherboard or psu? it seems something is tripping and not allowing the motherboard to turn back on...

pretty sure it's a failing psu...anyone have an enermax liberty or noisetaker? i'm looking at one of the following:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817103457http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817194003http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817153028i've heard antec's qc is slipping and only average reviews about fortron, and pc p&c is too expensive... anyone have a sparkle or thermaltake?[Edited on April 9, 2006 at 1:38 PM. I run some diagnostics before I ruled out either the PSU or the mobo. Thermaltake makes a good PSU. I have one now. Antec is still good and long as you don't buy their bottom tier PSUs. PC P&C is the shit, I wish I had that much cash. Sparkle and enermax are the weakest of the PSU manufactures that you listed. They're kind of sketchy in my book.[Edited on April 10, 2006 at 1:25 PM. after doing lots of research enermax has the best reviews out of all of them i've found (except PC P&C of course)... at least non-model specific... i'm looking for the most stable PSU i can get for the money (sub-$100, ATX12V and QUIET!!)btw, i've switched out my PSU, and no issues since, still looking for a good replacement though...http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817103937http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817103931anyone have a cooler master?http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817171001what i can't gather is smart power seems to be the way to go with modular cables that are SLEEVED, yet antec's true power seems to be the better line.... why don't all psu manufacturer's SLEEVE THEIR CABLES!!! for crying out loud i know psu's have the largest profit margin of all computer components, the LEAST they could do is sleeve the cables!!![Edited on April 10, 2006 at 7:09 PM.
