I have built many a computer but never really put one together as a HTPC project before.

I just got a 42" Plasma and I want to hook up a little media center to it. I noticed the thread in the classifieds with the HTPC shuttle box but most of the parts in that look a bit old. I do not want to make it a DVR but I do want it to have a more up-to-date Proc and more memory. I want to be able to browse and play my music that I have, my Emulators & ROM's and all the movies I do have backed up. Maybe some web browsing and what not too. So i'm guessing not a full on media center but you get my drift here. However, enough jucie that if I decide down the road to do any DVR stuff it could.

Have there been any reviews of building one recently or any articles about them period that you guys can point me to? How about any sleek looking cases you have seen? Software reviews?

If you want to just get it started and upgrade to dvr later
then just get a decent board and processor, big HD, i'd suggest at least two, and a quiet fan
