They're posting new info on the coaching situation...but only making it avail to premium subscribers. Can somebody post it on here?

". In fact, we’ve heard some close to Smith and/or his representation have contacted NC State about the opening to express interest. Tubby, who attended High Point University and coached at two high schools in North Carolina before moving into the college ranks, may be looking to move on, similar to Sendek, due to the constant criticism from Kentucky fans. If true, expect Smith to be HIGH on the list."

That's kind of a shock.

I'm not really sure how I'd feel about him taking the job...

Tubby would be an awesome choice. He'd also be the first African-American head coach at a Big Four school. I would not be opposed to him coming to State.

christ, how would tubby even be considered

i mean, he has a habit of running big time recruits right into the ground. he only won with an inherited team, and has been on a steady decline in the ranks of the SEC since.

seriously, this is comming from a person born on the grounds of UK, has a sister attending, two alumnus as parents and a life long uk bball fan.

tubby would be a very high profile hire, but a long term dissapointment

I'd be so scared of an African-American coach coming here. Because if he fucks up, our redneck fanbase will throw out some racist shit in a heartbeat and we'll be mortified as a school

i'd take either of them before Calipari (if he's really a candidate)... i can't wait to find out what shambles he'll wind up leaving Memphis in (if they aren't under investigation yet they probably will be, that's just his nature)

What exactly is wrong with packpride?? I personally think they do a great job running their website.

And I don't know why anyone would complain about packpride here. You're getting all their premium benefits for free when everyone gets the articles and turns around and posts them here.

I think he could if they actually put some effort into it. But I doubt they care, seeing that they wouldn't get too many premium memberships from the people who read Sports Talk anyways. This isn't their market.

Besides that...PackBacker could just come over here and say, "My source said this..." instead of posting the article. I don't see it being a big deal.

Probably so, but I don't think anyone is going to run and tell on me, and they really can't prove that I didn't just get this from someone else.

If I'm paying for the site, I highly doubt they could keep me out of there

I usually don't post much from there, but I figure this is a big enough event that the rules are out. I know everyone, including myself, is on pins and needles about it, so I didn't want to post a teaser. On a recruit, maybe... I just couldn't do it on this. Who cares what they think... just don't tell on me

^ yeah theres no point in defeating the purpose of the site and negate all the hard recruiting research, but your right this is the biggest sports topic that has happened in the 3 years i've been here.

it doesn't surprise me that he has supposedly inquired about the position...most UK fans are really not happy...it had surprised me that he had not been mentioned much here.

Personally, I think he should be a second choice behind Barnes (since Wright isn't even being mentioned). He has been at one of the biggest basketball programs in the country and I think he might just be ready for a change. I also love the possibility that he inquired about the position because it shows to me that he is interested in taking on a challenge against K and Roy.

Recruiting will be what worries me about him, but I don't think his recruiting would be a downgrade.

Tubby has inquired for just about every open position in the last 5 years. The fact that he has inquired about State's position is not a big deal. He inquired about Virginia last year and there were big rumors swirling around that.

And personally, I'm not really that impressed with what Tubby's done at Kentucky. He won a championship with Pitino's players. They have a Duke/UNC like program/tradition. He should be in the top 10 every year and remain there.

his team will suck next year, and if you already have $texas, at some point you just want to win.

I had never heard about him and Virginia, not saying it's not true. I understand he's no ones #1 choice, but I can't imagine him not coming in and having success. I don't think Kentucky is a good fit for him and I think a change could bring about some new success or results.

But what do I know...It's just an opinion.

haha they are reading it and making claims that packpride is the lesser of the two evils claiming our foul language and uneducated language are reasons why we are 2nd to them.

personally we have ALOT better debates on here and more interesting stories, over there news is relayed and thats about it, no real important additions by anyone.

SO PACKPRIDE CAN KISS IT, you charge for easy information

Actually you guys need to quit giving them shit.

The guy who owns that site...that's his job, his main source of income. If peope know they can come to TWW or other sites and get information, then they won't buy memberships. If memberships are down, then businesses won't advertise with them as much or they won't be able to charge as much for advertising.

I know the owner and he works really hard to keep that website going. And he's not exactly rolling in the dough either. So you quit your bitching.

the point is that the staff of packpride does actual research, conducts interviews with recruits, etc and it only makes sense to charge for certain stuff. i think it makes sense.

^^ there is a lot of extra info on the premium site, of course the free stuff is crossposted everywhere
