I just got a phone call from Kelly Eye Center saying that I won free Lasic surgery from the sweepstakes held on gopack.com. I remember signing up for the sweepstakes a couple months ago, and I scheduled an appointment with them to see what type of Lasic I would need, but I am skeptical about anything like this.

Kelly eye center is a reputable business in the area, and I remember the contest. They told me that I am the only winner, and I was wondering if anyone knows anyone else that won or if they know if this is legit.

doesn't hurt to go down and give them an hour or two of your time to find out... if it is legit, look at the money you could save

yea i scheduled an appointment for next week to at least see what its all about

gopack.com is a reputable site and kelly eye center is a reputable business so I would be surprised if both are involved in some marketing scam like that, but I'm also skeptical that I would actually win something like this

^we'll see what they say and how legit it is first

if it is legit I am definetely interested in having Lasik done in the future anyway, so I would probably use it

Anyone remember signing up for the sweepstakes on gopack.com and not getting a phone call saying they won? or anyone else get a phone call saying they won?

^ they actually use a little saw to cut the eye and create the flap, then they burn your eye with the laser

My mom does all the lasik eye screenings and stuff for my hometown eye doctor, and it's really simple and safe. The procedure is very straightforward and they usually do like 6-8 people per day (whenever they get the laser in). Their office doesnt actually own the lasik laser b/c it's millions of dollars, so they get it like 2 days a month and schedule all their surgeries for those days. I have no clue if your office does it this way or not, but I've never heard of any complaints and people always seems really pleased.

i wouldnt say its hard, but ive worn glasses/contacts since the 3rd grade, and they can just be a real pain in the ass sometimes....to the point where yes, i would be willing to get lasik

i've worn them since 4th grade, and i just don't see the appeal in being a test monkey for having tissue scarred away from the back of my eye

if someone can show me a truly long-term study, i'll go back to thinking about it

until then, i find it rather foolish when glasses and contacts (i've used contacts since 9th grade) are less than a hassle

^i had a -8.0 prescription, i couldn't even see in the middle of the night when i had to get up to take a piss (i had to do sonar to make sure i was making it in). I lost my contacts in the ocean and it took over an hour to find my spot on the beach. Ever try driving when a contact comes out?

I wore glasses and contacts since first grade. Lasik was the best gift I have ever given myself. I have zero regrets and love being able to see my alarm clock every morning. It's only been 2 years, but I feel like i've gotten my money's worth back 100x over.

[Edited on April 5, 2006 at 11:31 AM. Reason : fwiw, i got it done at kelly eye center and everything went perfect. I was in and out in 30 min top]

Shit, if you don't want it then give it to me. I'd love to not have to wear glasses anymore.

I'd hate to be the first dude on the slab the day they get the equipment back after a month.

you shouldn't get LASIK done in any season but winter... the humidity in the air fucks with the laser's precision so it is more likely your LASIK will have to be retouched.

Yes it is more of a pain...more so that I've apparently developed an allergy to my contacts.

I just got this email:

Quote :

very excited and grateful for this opportunity."

Ryan, 22 graduated from NC State 2005 with a major in Business Management and minor

life without glasses. "I can't wait to go to a NC State football or basketball game
and see who has the ball without my glasses in the way." Ryan also enjoys outdoor
activities and spending time with family and friends. He plans on finally buying a
cool pair of sunglasses for the summer.

I really want to get this done. As previously mentioned, being a -8.0 sucks a lot.

Lucky you for getting it for free!
