4/4/2006 1:51:34 AM
not listening to a damn think you said you spelled his damn name wrong
4/4/2006 1:52:23 AM
stfu, i even sourced it
4/4/2006 1:56:39 AM
its in the goddamn article
4/4/2006 1:58:03 AM
^^^get over it "think"
4/4/2006 1:58:33 AM
Looks pretty sturdy to me
4/4/2006 2:04:56 AM
^ i loled
4/4/2006 3:16:48 AM
Wow, what a misleading thread title.Silly me to think that the article might actually have anything to do with the title.Just because Raleigh is the state capital of North Carolina you don't see me running around saying police are more susceptible to give speeding tickets on Sundays...
4/4/2006 3:28:08 AM
^ agreed, things could still change if Fowler makes an attempt to contact Barnes before Texas makes a move on the raise. Not that Barnes would make a decision either way, but it is only implied that Barnes would have no intentions, not that he has squashed the thought.
4/4/2006 7:29:22 AM
4/4/2006 7:42:15 AM
He should have a press conference just to say..I'm Rick BARNES, BITCH!
4/4/2006 7:51:37 AM
4/4/2006 8:39:06 AM
what, a 4% raise? i guess that's ok
4/4/2006 9:17:56 AM
i think it's funny no where in that article does it state that barnes has no intentions of leaving all he said was "I haven't talked to anybody from North Carolina State" [quote]that doesn't mean he isn't thinking about taking the job, it means he hasn't talked to anyone at nc state
4/4/2006 12:46:14 PM
i think it's funny that people are dumb enough to think that means he's coming here
4/4/2006 12:56:16 PM
I don't think anyone is saying he is going anywhere in California.
4/4/2006 12:59:04 PM
i think there's at least a chance though. he's either negotiating like crazy w/texas to get his staff a huge raise or he is seriously considering the state job. otherwise he would have flat out said he was staying at texas w/no coach speak.i'm thinking it's probably b/c he is negotiating with texas, but maybe we'll get lucky and he will come. barnes isn't my first choice, but he's a good coach and i don't think we could do much better. (unless calipari or wright wanted to come)
4/4/2006 1:00:33 PM
how are calipari and wright > barnes?
4/4/2006 1:02:31 PM
its like watergate; all the president's men"its the way people aren't talking to us, like there's a pattern""a non-denial denial"
4/4/2006 1:04:07 PM
409c with the subtle jab, i like it
4/4/2006 1:08:23 PM
i just think they're better. calipari especially. look at his numbers, i think he had the 5th best start to a career ever as a head coach through 9-10 seasons. he got a 1-seed in the tournament with a c-usa team. i like wright because he is younger than barnes and i like what he's done with nova's offense. also, getting jay wright here would pretty much guarantee chris wright re-committing here.i think barnes is a redneck and too much of a hothead, but i would take him if he wanted to come, because chances are that the other two don't want to. and he hates carolina, which is a plus. also, if he came to state i think he'd be less likely to leave for a better job down the road.if we get anyone from that 3, i'll be happy. i'm just saying if all 3 said they would come and we could pick, i'd rather have calipari, then wright, then barnes.

4/4/2006 1:13:11 PM
Barnes being on the FUCK CAROLINA bandwagon will put him in good favor with our fans, so he will get away with more than Herb did.
4/4/2006 1:16:25 PM
That means, his people have talked to our people... Just no direct talking between us and him. Which means.. He just wants enough conversation out there to either see how much State will offer, which he can turn around and see if Texas will give him a raise.
4/4/2006 1:18:50 PM
4/4/2006 1:41:33 PM
I like Calipari better as a coach. I like Barnes better for our program. Calipari has some baggage, and he's a coach that is watched closely by the NCAA. That's the last thing we need. Granted, I want him like hell... but Barnes would be just as good of a hire, especially for NC State
4/4/2006 1:45:30 PM
well if lee fowler dosent get off his fat ass and make some damn offers we will be stuck with some joe schmo no one gives a damn about.
4/4/2006 2:46:34 PM
ah yes, people who think they know how this kind of thing works.good entertainment for all.
4/4/2006 2:47:36 PM
Haha, seriously. Since Barnes hasn't dropped everything he has built at Texas to come coach here, Lee Fowler must be getting drunk and pissing himself on the couch..
4/4/2006 2:48:31 PM
Get Barnes to meet in Raleigh.... I garauntee he cannot say no if he comes here.... How long has it been since he's been to the RBC Center? Has he seen the investments in the Dail Basketball Center? Can we get him a Sloan style Sportcoat? Immerse him in State, and he will not say no.
4/4/2006 2:51:23 PM
Exactly... I think in the link I posted above there is something to the effect of, an Athletics director knows before he offers whether or not they will take the position. Just cause the all powerful all knowing, perfect [/sarcaism] doesn't report it, doesn't mean it isn't happening.
4/4/2006 2:53:32 PM
4/4/2006 2:56:38 PM
I think we could realistically wave 2mil a year in his face, think Texas would counter?
4/4/2006 2:57:34 PM
I just upped my pledge to the Wolfpack Club....
4/4/2006 2:59:01 PM
ugh, you people.dont put all your eggs in one basket. more than likely he's not coming. with the players he should have coming back, Barnes could easily win a NC at Texas next year.I swear, I could see you people bitching if we ended up with Mike Montgomery or Billy Gillispie, two very successful coaches who are probably more likely than Barnes to come here.
4/4/2006 3:04:58 PM
4/4/2006 3:16:15 PM
he upped it so we could afford to wave 2mil to barneshe knows nothing we dont
4/4/2006 3:16:46 PM
I had been contemplating upping my pledge for a while now, and I had the money. I would probably double it if Barnes was coming.... I want our teams to be successful. I will always contribute as much as I can to our university....
4/4/2006 3:18:48 PM
We've supposedly informally offered Barnes a package upwards of 1.5-2 mil per the update on Scout.com'Montgomery is out. Calipari cannot be confirmed
4/4/2006 3:21:09 PM
4/4/2006 3:22:34 PM
until he says "I AM NOT GOING TO RALEIGH, EVER" I wont believe he isnt. that fact that its all, "im happy in texas blah blah blah" im conviced we have a shot
4/4/2006 3:24:07 PM
Barnes is either leaving Texas or just playing the "raise" card....
4/4/2006 3:29:45 PM
PackBacker,You conveniently left out that Texas is reportedly going to give him a raise up to 1.9 million. So money will not be the reason Barnes comes here. This motherfucker is playing us for a raise....I can just feel it.
4/4/2006 3:30:41 PM
at this point I think Barnes knows he is in a win/win situation, he gets a job he wants and gets PAID well to do it, or he stays where he is and earns bank in texas.
4/4/2006 3:32:31 PM
^^considering PackBacker posted the full article in the other thread, which is almost assuredly where you read it, i don't think he "convienently" left out anything.
4/4/2006 3:38:16 PM
^Actually dumbass...he posted it here first, which is where I read it and posted my reply first before looking at him posting it in the other thread. So STFU.
4/4/2006 3:54:03 PM
he didn't post the full article here
4/4/2006 4:05:28 PM
Good lord. I know that. I didn't see that he posted the full article in the other thread until after I had already posted. I was responding to what he posted in this thread.I'm sorry for not editing my post to reflect what Packbacker is posting in every single thread on this website.
4/4/2006 4:24:48 PM
I have a sac hair that needs to be split.Would either of you like to assist me?
