I'm planning on throwing a block party for the neighborhood. We have a band scheduled to play, getting a couple of kegs, and cooking a pig. We plan on having it in the cul-de-sac. What are the laws regarding these types of events e.g. permits, noise ordinance laws, etc.?

^^hell, the party is for them anyway. yes, i know some won't attend but that's why it will start at 3pm and the band is only booked to play for 4 hours.

i don't live in a "college" neighborhood. its not a brent rd. type party. i don't think they'd give a shit unless there are kids underage drinking which there won't or a noise complaint.

^^if a cop lives in the neighborhood, then they are more than welcome to come but the purpose of trying to find out this info is so they won't come.

you def. have to get a permit... they do something like that on my street once a year and the guy goes and gets all sorts of permits to make sure everything is legit (he has a business doing stuff like that so he knows how to get all those things) But i'm pretty sure he atleast has to have a permit with the City of Raleigh... and he also had to notify the fire dept. (they didn't mind, they came by and got free food) Doubt this helps any, but that's all I really know. Call RPD ((919) 890-3335) they should know.

my gf's neighborhood does something like that every year. I was there last year, and they had a fire truck sitting off to the side just in case something happened with all the grills. I dunno bout permits..

yes you will need a permit, and the beer etc is fine unless you are planning to SELL the beer, in which case you will need a sales permit for beer and wine.
