I'm planning on throwing a block party for the neighborhood. We have a band scheduled to play, getting a couple of kegs, and cooking a pig. We plan on having it in the cul-de-sac. What are the laws regarding these types of events e.g. permits, noise ordinance laws, etc.?

i would go around and tell all ur neighbors what is gonna happen and get them to sign a waiver sayin they wont call the cops or file complaints or anythin.

that wont hold upyou thought about it, so that means that rpd knowsyoure fucked

^^hell, the party is for them anyway. yes, i know some won't attend but that's why it will start at 3pm and the band is only booked to play for 4 hours.[Edited on April 2, 2006 at 10:21 PM. Reason : make it easier for ya, guth?]

Perphaps call RPD to let them know in advance what you are planning.

i don't live in a "college" neighborhood. its not a brent rd. type party. i don't think they'd give a shit unless there are kids underage drinking which there won't or a noise complaint.

wtf didn't this exact same thread happen like a week ago?
4/2/2006 10:34:13 PM
i read that as the cops would be there and not your neighbors
4/2/2006 10:36:30 PM
you better hope that ncsu police doesn't show up. they have HORSES man. HORSES.
4/2/2006 10:40:42 PM
^haha, that horse looks like "get this fat bitch off me"

^^if a cop lives in the neighborhood, then they are more than welcome to come but the purpose of trying to find out this info is so they won't come.

you def. have to get a permit... they do something like that on my street once a year and the guy goes and gets all sorts of permits to make sure everything is legit (he has a business doing stuff like that so he knows how to get all those things) But i'm pretty sure he atleast has to have a permit with the City of Raleigh... and he also had to notify the fire dept. (they didn't mind, they came by and got free food) Doubt this helps any, but that's all I really know. Call RPD ((919) 890-3335) they should know.

my gf's neighborhood does something like that every year. I was there last year, and they had a fire truck sitting off to the side just in case something happened with all the grills. I dunno bout permits..
4/3/2006 7:24:48 PM
yes you will need a permit, and the beer etc is fine unless you are planning to SELL the beer, in which case you will need a sales permit for beer and wine.
4/3/2006 7:32:06 PM
i didn't know cravin' melon was still around
4/3/2006 7:55:21 PM
