In a rural area the fraction of the population that is HIV infected is 0.0007 (7 people per 10,000). The blood test for HIV infection returns a "positive" test result 98% of the time when the test is used on an infected person, and 1% of the time when used on an uninfected person. Evaluate answer to as many decimal places as your calculator allows. What is the probability that a randomly tested person from this area will get a "positive" result? If a person's test result comes back "positive," what is the probability he is actually HIV infected?

calm down... ok, so im sorry you can't get help w/ the question...if you have time before your webassign is due to head over to the computer lab in harrelson, there is normally someone there that has awesome expertise in ma 114 to help, one on one, so you get the answer, and the understanding to do it. (i did this once after a grad student told me that most of those guys are awesome at helping...)
