"Black. White." is the most racist show on television, but it's probably not for the reason you think.

A lot of people think Bruno is the racist one, since he seems to think modern racism doesn't exist, but I think the two white women (Carmen and Rose) are much more offensive. They have a severe racial guilt complex that leads them to condescended black people in the spirit of "understanding".

For example, when Bruno says that he doesn't do a lot of things black rappers do (call women bitches, do drugs, and the like), his partner Carmen responds "Well, no shit you don't, you didn't grow up black".

What does that have to do with anything?

Isn't thinking that black people are so inferior that they can't escape their raising the acme of racism?

i haven't seen the show, but i agree...sort of. i don't know that it's "worse", but it's bad.

i say just get racial stuff out in the open. Make fun of each other for racial stuff. Understand that black people and white people and their respective cultures DO have differences, but who cares? Call a spade a spade when you see one, too.

Just don't ever discriminate (in thought or action) against an individual based upon any of that stuff.

Boondocks is a show that deals with racial issues, but really, it makes fun of black people too. I haven't seen every episode, so I'm not sure what the proportion is, but it seems to me like it makes fun of black and white people fairly equally.

Did she suggest anything about inferiority or that some how the way black kids are raised isn't as good as how white kids are raised, or that all black kids are raised the same (or was that you)?

Perhaps what she meant was that kids model themselves after the people they look up to and the people their friends look up to (all kids want to fit in), and perhaps she thinks more black kids listen to that type of rap and are into different things than white kids, thus the reason "black people act that way" (atleast according to bruno). As in, "hey, if you were black your interests would probably have been different while you were growing up, and because of that you probably would act different than you do now". ... Perhaps


I don't like the format of this show. At first I thought it was gonna be in a similar format to 30days, a black and white family living together for a month or so, then have like an hr long show. 2 different families for every show. I like how it is, in that we get to see more than the other way would allow, but we only have 1 black family and 1 white family, that's no where near enough paticipants to learn anything. I'm white, I find it very difficult to relate to the white family, i don't feel they represent me in the least bit. I'm worried that this show will perpetuate stereotypes, how whites think of blacks and vice-versa because the show only looks at one particular demographic difference. Different families are going to get along and understand each other to varying degrees. All this show really does is show that there are differences between people, but those difference exist between age, nationality, socio-economic status, and region, general personal interest, and other things, not just color alone. They could do a simialar show with a rich white family and poor white family and find just as many differences.
I watch the show, think it's entertaining, but as far as educating people goes (which i'm not sure if that's really it's intention), it's not set up to do a good job. But maybe 2 weeks after this one they'll start another run of shows with different families.

Yeah, Carmen said some racist bullshit. You can see what she's trying to say, but she's still not sophiscated enough to get it right.

I don't see how her words make "Black.White." racist? Isn't part of the point of the show to highlight our racist bullshit?

That show sucks...I wasted my time watching that pile of crap. Another TV show that the networks come up with that uses the shock factor to draw attention from viewers.
