Is there any reason NOT to just go in on a 66 in 45 ticket and ask da for reduction to 9 overAndHas anyone else been given a verbal warning that driving while in neutral/coasting is illegal?

never been warned or anything....but i believe i read at some point that it is technically illegal....another one of those bullshit things they can choose to be assholes about

couldnt tell you, i usually just drop about $350 on a lawyer and it dissapears. got a 97 in a 70 dropped last month

Most of the time they won't drop it to 9 over if you are going 16+ over the limit. A Greenville A-DA told me that she was not allowed to do it at all. Don't know about around here though.I mean, you could still try and if they say no just ask the judge for a continuance and hire a lawyer.[Edited on March 29, 2006 at 7:26 PM. Reason : s]

if its your first offense go in and ask for 9 over, if they wont do it ask for a continuance and lawyer up

1. Go to the student legal services office and ask them, it's free anyway.2. The Kelly Law Firm (919) 846-6919 Tell him you got his name from student leagal services, and he should give you a discount. [Edited on March 29, 2006 at 7:49 PM. Reason : sp]

just get a damn lawyer, getting the shit dropped to 9 over still carries a point your insurance company can use against you...
3/29/2006 9:33:02 PM

3/29/2006 9:57:29 PM

and now there is 978234978349723987234987 plus 1 speeding ticket threads

You can get one ticket for 9 over every three years without your insurance going up. It's not a bad deal for people that can stay out of trouble for three years after getting one.

damn traffic cops. I think if your coasting downhill, they shouldn't ticket you as long as your doing a reasonable speed, but I don't make the laws. Besides, wasted momentum is wasted energy in turn decreases your gas milage.

^hey, if you think of it, a little bit goes a lot once you get keep doing over a period of time with the number of people doing it increases... But still, speeding is speeding in the eyes of cops.

Last I checked Wake County does not allow you to drop a speeding ticket to improper equipment, and you have to try for the 9 over or use your prayer for judgement.

^^^I drive a stick, so if the foot is off the gas, the other foot stays on the clutch, or it goes into neutral. I have never seen anyone with a manual coast without putting it in neutral and or popping the clutch

first 2 9-overs in NC do not cause insurance pointsfyi[Edited on March 30, 2006 at 9:57 AM. Reason : only license points]
3/30/2006 9:57:32 AM
^^ just because you have never seen it doesnt mean you cant do it.its not exactly "coasting"... but it will keep your speed down and allows you to be lazy.

so keeping the clutch down or the transmission in neutral any time i am slowing down, or any time i am going down a series of downgrades puts more wear and tear on the drivetrain than keeping it in gear?
3/30/2006 4:47:52 PM
i got a verbal warning once...Of course that was driving fast without headlights on and no seatbelt on, but thats a long ass story to tell. oh yeah smooth talker hehe
