EC 201 and 202 made me want to jump out of HarrelsonPeople that actually take EC classes beyond 200-level are more hardcore than I ever care to be.ACC all the way.[Edited on March 29, 2006 at 8:10 PM. Reason : mp]

^^I had the opposite reaction. I hated ACC210 and tolerated 220 (mainly because I liked the professor). However, I liked EC205 so much that I ended up taking 202, 301, 302, and 348. Would have completed the minor if my schedule had been a little more flexible.Accounting is probably going to be easier to find a job in though, I do agree.

once you get past macro and micro classes and use them in elective classes it becomes a lot more interesting.

tyler...accounting no doubtunless you are gonna work for someones political administration

depends on what your goals are. if you want to work right out of college and crunch numbers, accounting. if you want to learn great theories and behaviors of both business and consumers, economics. the drawback of economics is that it's VERY HARD to find a job with a BA, but with a MA, it's an easy six figures. that is if you're a real good economist. economics is by far the more interesting subject to me, but very hard to grasp. ^not all economists work for political administrations. some do research for universities, some advise corporations such as private banks.

^I had no trouble finding a job with a BA in Econ - at a major bank. In my opinion, Econ is much better than a catch-all business degree.[Edited on March 31, 2006 at 2:52 PM. Reason : d]

the econ degree has a lot of free electives for people to add minors or another degree. if you plan early its actually pretty easy.

I'm actually an econ and poli sci double major - both have lots of free electives so I was able to graduate in 4 years. (assuming i pass spanish this semester)

for getting a job straight out of college without a graduate degree they are about equal in getting a jobso it really depends on what you are interested in and what you want to do in the long term.i graduated with a BS degree in Econ and work as a consultant. most of my co-workers are former accounting people

I think your job prospects are much better with Accounting. It is a growing field. I was an econ major, but switched to accounting. I did a lot of research on the job prospects and the field as a whole and found that they were better with an accounting degree. Not to mention, salaries were better also. While avg starting salaries are middle-of-the-road, I found that they increased tremendously with just a couple of years' experience. Also, since State is now considered one of the top twenty-five universities in the country for accounting (both grad and undergrad), the recruiting is going to get even better than it already is. Only one other school in NC placed in the top twenty-five this year (Wake Forest). I say Accounting, but I'm biased Definitely make sure you like it, though. If you don't like it, you may find the material to be difficult.
