OOOOOMMMMMMMMMMFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF

an interesting find. its a science article that uses the words "missing link" so this may turn into a science vs religion soap box type affair. but hopefully it will hold out as news worthy lounge material for a while first.[Edited on March 28, 2006 at 5:18 PM. Reason : .]

that's part of why i decided to not bother to title it

i watched something on the discovery channel where they said there was no distinct missing link, but instead there could have been several different types of bipedal hominids existing at the same time. This would mean that even if we found an 'ancient skull', it wouldn't necessarilly mean that homo sapiens evolved from this species.

dude, 40 thousand years ago it was all the party with different kinds of the homo something species. We just kind of outsourced them.

Indeed, at least 3 species of humans coexisted at the same time(if not the same places) as modern humans.Homo sapiens (~200,000 years ago- present)Homo erectus/ergaster (1.8million - 50,000 years ago)Homo neanderthalensis(200,000 - 30,000 years ago)Homo floresiensis (18,000 - 12,000 years ago)To put this in perspective, civilization only appeared about 6,000 years ago, Judaism(the bible) about 4,000 years ago.[Edited on March 28, 2006 at 6:20 PM. To really put things in perspective, if the history of the earth was just a single day, all this shit went down in the last 4 seconds, with us arriving at the party just before midnight. You know how we roll.Hell they didn't even let vertebrates into the club until 9:30pm.[Edited on March 28, 2006 at 6:29 PM. Reason : .]
