like it is a word document?

if the filename is "XXXSLUTS.exe" rename it to "XXXSLUTS.doc"[Edited on March 23, 2006 at 9:14 AM. Reason : I actually dunno, it's just a suggestion.]

i think that will cause the file to become unusable. anyway, i am not trying that stupid shit, i just want to change the icon.
3/23/2006 9:26:51 AM
right-click -> properties -> shortcut -> change icon
3/23/2006 9:31:03 AM
that is for a short cut, not a program's icon
3/23/2006 9:34:55 AM
You could search through the program files until you find the program icon you are looking for...rename it to xxxx.ico.old and then put the new icon you want to be shown and name it as xxxx.ico.Not sure if it would work...never tried it.[Edited on March 23, 2006 at 9:40 AM. Reason : adsf]

the icons are built in to the exe usually - no easy way to change it that i know of]
3/23/2006 9:44:11 AM
i mean, i have found a program to change the icon of programs, but i do not want to install that program. i just thought that there is some trick to the trade that could used in this situation.

i'd rather not add to this discussion since this is a ploy typically used by worm and virii writers
3/23/2006 10:23:19 AM
well, i can assure that all i want to do is change the icon for miniaim and put it in a folder will all of my word documents so it can not be easily detected by anybody, since this is a multiuser machine here at work.
3/23/2006 10:58:43 AM
just download a freeware resource editor, or send me the file and icon and I'll change it for you
3/23/2006 11:11:28 AM
download miniaim, and mod ithttp://miniaim.netthanks! don't have the icon, can yo make it??[Edited on March 23, 2006 at 11:13 AM. Reason : ads]
3/23/2006 11:13:08 AM
give me a little bit, and I'll see what I can do
3/23/2006 11:14:47 AM
you should just change it from file.exe to file.docand then when you want to use it, simply rename it back
3/23/2006 11:41:39 AM
ok, I got it fixed, how do you want me to send it to you
3/23/2006 11:47:13 AM
or move the file to a hidden directory on the HDD and put a shortcut to the desktop.
3/23/2006 11:47:50 AM
how does that work... you do it and tell me how it works
3/23/2006 11:48:02 AM
that was way more complicated than it should have been, the miniaim exe is compressed with UPX, so I had to decompress it, hunt down the word doc icon, update the icon in miniaim with Resource Hacker, then recompress with upxlastly, yousendit isnt working, and Gmail wont let you send zip files with .EXE files in them, jesus
3/23/2006 11:59:26 AM
lol
3/23/2006 12:02:33 PM
how do i change it from a doc to exe file?
3/23/2006 12:02:41 PM
right-click -> rename -> type in "miniaim.exe" instead of "miniaim.doc"
3/23/2006 12:12:44 PM
i did that in the first place and it still opens up in word
3/23/2006 12:14:34 PM
all that work, and I sent him the wrong Office Word doc icon Office XP's doc icon is different from Office 2003's doc icon, haha
3/23/2006 12:32:38 PM
just put the exe in the windows folderthen just go to run -> miniaim whenever you need it.much less conspicuous.
