http://americana.ncsu.edu. If anyone wants to submit something, please do! It's NCSU's online magazine, and it would be great experience to put on your resume as well (come on, any employer would love the communication skills!)

Is it customary for people to include their blogs on resumes?

It's not particularly hard to get published. I enourage anyone has something they want to share (fiction, non-fiction, short stories, news and opinion, arts, essays, etc) to submit it online at Americana's website.

If you can draw a creative picture of a cricket/tumbleweed hybird, submit that.

Considering it is "NCSU's online magazine" the publication being listed on your resume, especially if you're a fairly regular contributor, would look pretty good, and show you have writing skills. Editors won't approve something that's trash. Everything is edited before publishing.

As for "blogs" Features is the section where you can write about your general thoughts on stuff, in article form, or Creativity if it's in poetry form...but either way it's not going to be just a hobnob of random things, so I wouldn't just title it as a blog. Besides blogs aren't completely lame for resumes either, if you have a regular, well-written, fairly widely-read one. I'm sure most employers would prefer you be up on current trends.

I wouldn't dare put on my résumé any publication that would publish Holly Fucking Bezant.

We also have an Features editor position open now, and a few other positions that need filling for the fall semester. PM me with questions.

Matt, I'll draw you a tumbleweed.

I'd be happy to put that in my open mic section, provided it meets my rigorous editing standards. If not, I have a good place for it on my refridgerator.
