Anyone have a clip of last nite's performance from Him?I heard he rocked "Walk the Line" and put the alternative twist on it.

am I the only one that just isn't feeling this guy? must EVERYTHING he sings sound like an outtake from the latest Fuel album? Show me some range.
3/22/2006 11:17:52 AM
i LOVE himhe's the only one that even tries to sing the songs in his own waypretty much everyone else sounds like karaoke night at playmakers...even though some of them are very good singers
3/22/2006 11:31:43 AM
i like him ... just too much vibrato.
3/22/2006 12:59:13 PM
I like the guy, but he gets too much credit for putting alternative twists on old songs. I had never heard that rendition of "Walk the Line", but I could tell right away that it was a Live remake. He did the same thing a few weeks ago to an RHCP song.

but thats the point...they have to sing songs by other people, at least he is being a bit more originalinstead of doing a well known version of an old song, he took a different approach that suited him better

^they say every single performance has to be better than the original or with a new twist...he's taking their advice to the T; i hope he wins honestlyhe has decent range, he just sticks to what is undoubtedly his "style"simon seems to respect it[Edited on March 22, 2006 at 3:34 PM. Reason : yep]

definitely don't like this guy. i think it's because he seems to take himself too seriously, and has a certain narcissistic quality that makes me want to vomit. also the chain hanging off the pants last night was pretty gay, even if someone in the dressing room told him to do it.i guess that qualifies me as a hater, but whatever
3/22/2006 3:55:58 PM
i listened to the Live version. definitely see the similarities, but i like Chris' voice better
3/22/2006 7:01:31 PM
^^he's actually very nice and laid back (this is coming from my mom and his wife's best friend)he used to sing at weddings...i mean how cocky can a guy be that sang at weddings?

"one more outburst sir and i will strangle you with my microphone"

106.5 the END is already playing the clip by request. I heard it yesterday afternoon while in Asheville. Can they do this?I think you can go ahead and turn the lights out on the rest of the competition.

I interned at a FOX affiliate last summer, and one of the photogs and a morning reporter have the "American Idol" beatHere's what he's written about Chris lately in his blog http://www.lenslinger.com/He has stuff in there about the other NC finalists too
3/23/2006 9:59:48 AM
Fuel called him to be their lead singer?? Damn that's pretty impressive. On a side note, I didn't even know Fuel's lead singer was out of the band..
3/23/2006 10:25:39 AM
Paris comes off as cocky and is just too perky for my liking but she will make the top 5
3/23/2006 12:23:52 PM
holy crap!I could care less for American Idol, i think the idea behind it is pathetic, especially that so many people care about it. Having said that, I have flipped by the channel and watching horrible singers thinking they are awesome is pretty damn hilarious.Back to my original idea...HOLY CRAP! that guy totally butchered "I walk the line" ...not in a good way. He totally screwed up what the song AND music is about, makes it sound like church music (by the way, yes im aware that Cash has done plenty of church music, but I walk the Line isn't it.)Chris, If you say he is a good guy, i believe you, if you say he can sing, sure, ok, i believe you, but keep him away from Johnny Cash musicHow is this guy a finalist? Nevermind that question, this wonderful show has given us fucking Clay Aiken and Kelly Clarkson....

my mom's computer guy at her office plays guitar in chris daughtry's band in mcleansville...he was at the office today and said their cd's have been backordered for over 2 weeks and they get over 200 emails a day about appearing at various shows and junk...i think it's safe to say that chris daughtry is set regardless of how the contest ends...

Something about the way the dude sings rubs me the wrong way. Every performance he gives seems exactly the same, which some might call consistancy, but it comes off to me as pretty mechanical like the singing you would hear in a SUV commercial.
3/23/2006 3:57:05 PM
Do the singers arrange their own songs? or do they have people do that for them?If this guy's arranging the way all his songs sound, whereas everyone else is just going with the traditional form, then that's something.
3/23/2006 4:01:52 PM
i'm sure Chris had a lot to do with that arrangement of walk the lineand like i said earlier, they're supposed to be different from the original, otherwise they'd have to sing it better than the songwriter and that does not happen
