I got a job offer from Robins Air Force Base as entry level mechanical engineer. It's in Macon Georgia. I had on-site interview with Hyundai motors at Montgomery, AL and Caterpillar at Aurora, IL. Both have high potention for offers. I like the job in Hyundai b/c job there I can learn all process of automotive manufacturing and the plant is new in 2005. Caterpillar is big company and I like to be close to big city and it is very close to Chicago. It requires 15month rotating program. Air Force Base is government job and reliable. requires 2 year development program. feedback/advice on choosing job please...

Live in the best possible location. That being said, I'd go for the the Caterpillar job.

It sounds like you might be interested in learning about the automotive production process - is that just an interest or is that somewhere you'd like to see your career go? Maybe think about what positions you best for what you want to do next. Are you looking to find somewhere you'll take a job and stay for life or are you looking to gain experience and move around some before settling down?

Caterpillar has good potential long-term, as does Hyundai I believe. It's next to impossible to get fired from a government job but it's also more difficult to get raises, and I'm not sure there's as much variety. Would you be going into the Air Force, or just Civil Service? If it was actually the Air Force I think you'd have more respect if/when you leave the job, plus if you decide to stay in the job you put your years in then get a full pension and are still young enough to take your experience to another job.

If you get in with CAT, and get them to finance your MBA, (since you already have an engineering background), you'll be making bank before too long. Plus it's in a great location. There's just too much potential to make great money and advance up at CAT, I'd go for them.Whatever you choose, all the best!!

They all sound great. The only one I know anything about is Robin AFB. Robins is one of main reserach/design centers within the Air Force, other than Wright Patterson, could be interesting, cutting edge stuff.
