they can talk all the shit they want, but Coach Sendek will be back next seasonGO WOLFPACK!
3/20/2006 3:41:25 PM
The funniest thing about the Herb fluffers is that they will be back next season trying to justify another disappointing season.the circle of life continues...
3/20/2006 4:17:29 PM
disappointing? what would our team have to do to not have a disappointing season then? get to the sweet 16 like unc did this year oh wait unc didnt either
3/20/2006 4:22:18 PM
yeah and I'd say them not making the sweet sixteen was pretty disappointing too.and the way we lost against texas was pretty fucking disappointing if I do say so myself.have a plan work in the first half, and then abandon that plan for the second have and start sucking.
3/20/2006 4:23:30 PM
nobody in the damn NCAA would have beat Texas yesterday. Texas was on fire and on top of their game.
3/20/2006 4:25:43 PM
yeah, losing 4 out of your last 5 games, including getting bounced by 21 pts in the NCAAs (plus losing in the first round of the ACC tourney) and losing EVERY GAME to your rivals is pretty fucking disappointing.Wait, do you mean to say that you AREN'T disappointed in this season considering all the possibilties that were there??[Edited on March 20, 2006 at 4:26 PM. Reason : .]
3/20/2006 4:26:32 PM
^^it doesn't chap your ass that we made a great comeback by abandoning threes and running a fast break/smash mouth offense which we proceeded to abandon in the 2nd half?[Edited on March 20, 2006 at 4:28 PM. Reason : I said the way we lost not the fact that we lost.]
3/20/2006 4:28:21 PM
Out of the past 5 years, the happiest moments I have had watching state basketball are as follows: Beating Duke and rushing the court, beating Carolina twice the year DOH was fired, and beating UConn last year. Other than that, we have had no Huge program wins. Getting to the NCAA 5 years is great and all, but I want an ACC Championship and some wins over our rivals, not consistently beating other teams and getting blown out in the NCAA.
3/20/2006 4:29:11 PM
WHAT IS THE DEFINITION OF A NON-DISAPPOINTING SEASON?NOT 20+ WINS AND AN NCAA TOURNEY WIN?
3/20/2006 4:30:00 PM
A national championship is the only way to shut some of these guys up.
3/20/2006 4:32:36 PM
a season where we take advantages of at least most of our opportunities and play like a team with 3 good seniors and amazing sophomore talent should play and don't fuck up when we should win(unc at home, wake, wake, BC at home, etc.).on the sendek show last night or something they showed evty makin threes against charlotte and uconn last year and it made me wonder WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED TO HIM?he was supposed to be so good this year, "my body is in its best shape ever omg."but I digress.[Edited on March 20, 2006 at 4:33 PM. 3/20/2006 4:34:02 PM
It was a dissapointing ending to a good year. The last month of regular season and ACC tourney was rough, I have no idea what got into our shooter's heads, but overall I am mostly happy with this year. If you would have told me at the beginning "we are gonna win 20+ games and our first round NCAA" I would have been pretty happy with that.^ Since when have coaches been expected to beat teams that are the best in the country? If that was a job requirement for coaches there would a lot more coaching vacancies. The fact that they are one of the best teams, means they are probably better than your team. WHICH MEANS YOU PROBABLY WON'T WIN!This applies to all teams, not just NC State.[Edited on March 20, 2006 at 4:37 PM. Reason : .]
3/20/2006 4:34:03 PM
so our only bad games according to you (aside from texas) were our last 4 games of the year
3/20/2006 4:34:04 PM
um no? "etc."those are obviously the four that stick out in my mind right now.and way to ignore most of my post."a season where we take advantages of at least most of our opportunities and play like a team with 3 good seniors and amazing sophomore talent"go ahead and try to tell me we played as good as we could this year. please.[Edited on March 20, 2006 at 4:36 PM. 3/20/2006 4:35:35 PM
for this season not to be a disappointment, I think it would have required that we get that 20+ wins and the NCAA bid and the following:-at least ONE win over UNC or Duke. (and no, I do not think this is unreasonable)-winning at least ONE game in ACC tourney (i.e. not blow another game to the worst team in the league)-Make it to AT LEAST the sweet 16. When you are building a program (now in it's 10th great year!) you need to at least maintain what you have acheived before.I could get into the fact that for the last month of the season most of our players looked like they were just whipped, but I won't. No passion, no spirit. and I place the blame for that SQUARELY on Herb Sendek. So yes, to reitterate, it was a disappointing season.
3/20/2006 4:35:57 PM
so we DIDNT take advantage of "most of our opportunities and play like a team" considering we started 21-5? is that not most of our opportunities?
3/20/2006 4:37:21 PM
yes, when you are 21-5 and your upcoming games are mostly either at home or against the worst team in the league and you lose them, that is not taking advantage of opportunities.[Edited on March 20, 2006 at 4:39 PM. Reason : ds]
3/20/2006 4:37:25 PM
NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP EVERY YEAR OR FIRE ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT!!!15113165WE SHOULD BE ABLE TO BEAT UNC AND DUKE BECAUSE THEY ARE OUR RIVALS, LET'S NOT TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION THEY HAVE BEEN TWO OF THE BEST PROGRAMS IN THE NATION FOR THE LAST 20 YEARS!!!!1515151551901J85J89ytyw42[Edited on March 20, 2006 at 4:40 PM. haha whenever I make a legitimate argument, you ignore it."when you are 21-5 and your upcoming games are mostly either at home or against the worst team in the league and you lose them, that the epitome is not taking advantage of opportunities.""play like a team with 3 good seniors and amazing sophomore talentgo ahead and try to tell me we played as good as we could this year. please."seacrest out.[Edited on March 20, 2006 at 4:41 PM. legitimate argument rofl holler back when you make oneway to address my points on the sweet 16 and beating unc and dukejust like a true FIRE HERB state "fan"^I guess when we were spanking Boston College and George Washington and Alabama, etc we werent playing like a good team...way to be selective by choosing only the losses, not factoring in the whole season...gg...just like a true FIRE HERB state "fan"]
3/20/2006 4:40:55 PM
I never said anything about the sweet 16 or unc/duke so GO FUCK YOURSELF BITCH.
3/20/2006 4:42:12 PM
^So you are impressed by a season that we finished 4th in the regular season, bounced in the first round of the ACC tournament by the worst team in the league, and beat by 21 in the second round of the NCAA tournament?
3/20/2006 4:42:19 PM
3/20/2006 4:43:30 PM
^^^yeah because you edited your posts you little bitch^^maybe we couldve had a great season where we finished in the bottom half of the field, or finished like maryland and made the NIT and got bounced out of that by a team like MANHATTANyou act like Texas isnt a great team^i dont care how good our regular season could have been, texas is a great team, there is no shame in losing to them]
3/20/2006 4:44:17 PM
3/20/2006 4:46:02 PM
Teams beat UNC and Duke all the time. Hell if anything, a team that gets to play them both 2 or 3 times a season should have more success. Why are you so determined to take State's level of expectation of that to a mid-major conference level? We should EXPECT THE BEST. nothing less. As soon as you start being happy with less than that and lowering you expectations you turn into fucking Hampton. Maybe State can get into the NCAA play-in game for 10 years straight! Man, if Herb could accomplish that he would be THE MAN!!
3/20/2006 4:47:28 PM
I'm so tired of this.
3/20/2006 4:48:35 PM
we played duke once, and teams do not beat them all the time. there is no team that beats duke or unc ALL THE TIME. they have an occasional loss to a team that plays the best game they've ever played, but it doesn't happen ALL THE TIME.
3/20/2006 4:50:24 PM
great thread, best one ever (sarcastic)
3/20/2006 4:50:33 PM
Just from an outside looking in point of view, it does seem that the majority of the people that want Herb gone (not just on this site) are old enough to remember when State was a powerhouse and those that support Herb only likely remember the Less Robinson years and (quite correctly) see Herb as a huge improvement.(by "all the time" I mean that they aren't haveing undefeated seasons every year. they ARE beatable)[Edited on March 20, 2006 at 4:52 PM. 3/20/2006 4:51:43 PM
duke 32-3 unc 23-8combined winning % : .833The rest of the acc : 182-131combined winning % : .581true. people beat unc and duke all the time.even the next three are 70-26 : .730
3/20/2006 4:57:53 PM
2 things: Bring all of Herb's accomplishments (5 ncaa apps, S16, 2nd reg season) to a table with Duke fans, Carolina fans, Wake fans, Md fans, etc. Now see who laughs in your face and who envies us. That should be a glimpse into the outside perspective of State. As oppose to US hating on EACH OTHER all b/c of OUR coach.2nd, Herb's market value should be a fair assessment from a national perspective. e.g., remember few years back when Amato's name came up a lot for the FSU job, sans BBowden? Well, now look at Amato's situation. Example of market value dropping. If Herb were to test the waters that would be the measuring stick of his "success".
3/20/2006 5:10:25 PM
The funniest thing about Herb supporters is how they ignore the facts:8-38 v. Duke and UNC (worse than any other NCSU coach, even Les)Only once higher than a 7 seedOnly one Sweet 16No championships of any kind10 or more losses every year13-61 against the RPI top 25 (8-26 over the last five "great" years)Out of the 17 coaches in ACC history who coached a decade or more, only Herb Sendek and Bill Gibson did not win an ACC regular season or tournament championship or advance to the Elite 8You get a cookie if you can name what school Bill Gibson was the coach at back in the '70s. I expect Herb will be similarly absent from memory 30 years from now.
3/20/2006 5:18:25 PM
University of Virginia. Where's my cookie?
3/20/2006 5:25:00 PM
Congrats. You can pick up your stale, week-old cookie from Fountain anytime before 8 tonight. Enjoy!
3/20/2006 5:27:35 PM
hahahahhahahahhaI'm afraid fountain is a little out of my reach. I remember their food however.... I used to get the omlets all the time...
3/20/2006 5:28:55 PM
HEY DID WE FLAKE OUT AND LOSE AGAIN?WHY YESYES WE DID.BUT WE ARE TEH IMPROVING BUR BUR BUR BUR BUR
3/20/2006 5:29:24 PM
the funniest thing about herb haters...
3/20/2006 5:33:31 PM
I just am glad we weren't a higher seed expected to win that game...and lost. I can't imagine how it feels to lose to a CAA team....
3/20/2006 5:33:37 PM
We aren't a higher seed because we suck balls.
3/20/2006 5:35:55 PM
3/20/2006 5:56:35 PM
whens the last time any team's rivals were as great a programs as UNC and DUKEyou act like "we should be able to beat our rivals" as if they are just average to above average programs

in 1990 we missed the tournamentin 1989, which is the last time we won an acc tournament, we got to the sweet 16 and got eliminatedso i guess we're just as much of a powerhouse nowbtw even though duke had no titles then, they went to the final 4 both of those years and lost in the championship game to unlv in 1990]
3/20/2006 6:17:24 PM
We cant fire Herb, and I dont think I want to fire him anymore. He's close to getting it done, but thats it...close. I just dont think it would have been too much to ask of our team to NOT collapse like they did at the end of the season. If you're not gonna win the big ones, then at least dont lose the ones that you REALLY REALLY REALLY should win (wake twice).
3/20/2006 6:18:04 PM
So just because UNC and Duke are great programs means that we should accept being relegated to third place?Of course it would be hard to dominate either one, that isn't what we are asking for. I want to competitive with them, that is all. An 8-38 record in ten years is not competitive, it is getting owned routinely. And to answer the question, both V and Sloan struggled with UNC, and both had sub .500 records v. Dean Smith. Sloan was relatively close to 50%, V was a little over 30%. Herb is at a solid 14% against the Heels. Both Sloan and V had winning percentages against Duke. Herb's is even lower than that against UNC.Again, we cannot expect to dominate UNC or Duke. We should expect to take more than 1 out of every 10 against them though. That is absolutely pathetic.
