Interesting story that ran on NPR this week. Features interviews with several innocent detainees that spent 4 years in Gitmo after being sold to the Americans for a bounty. None of them ever had a trial. Their English is actually very good, and the music is not too shabby either.http://thisamericanlife.org/It's under "Last Week:" at the bottom.[Edited on March 17, 2006 at 8:48 PM. Reason : .]

Yeah, after listening to that I was pretty pissed. Why doesn't someone call W. and Co. out on their lies? Boggles the mind.

Hell, they'd better at least make a half-hearted effort to dish out some due process before they find themselves in jail cells.

What amazes me is that you liberals say every conservative source cannot be used because they are bias, but all you do is post liberal sources.

I thought it was funney how they said that they ran a paper similar to The Onion over there.

They have bigger balls than PBS, I'll give them that.By the way, I'm not really liberal. I'm a moderate conservative. Just listen to the goddamned interview. The interesting shit is in Act III.[Edited on March 18, 2006 at 9:42 AM. Reason : .]

THESE GUYS HAVE NO REASON TO LIE!!!!11

They don't claim to have been tortured. Just listen.

how do we know the story of how they came to be in US custody is true?oh wait, we don't.
3/18/2006 10:39:23 AM
The US government released these men. That's as close to an admission of a mistake as they'll get. If our government had any reason to believe these men were in fact criminals, history has clearly shown that they would have just held them indefinitely.Furthermore, the military has indeed used bounties to attempt to capture terrorists. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to imagine that false accusations were often made just to collect rewards. Even Africans frequently sold each other into slavery. It's just human nature.

How many different ways do you need to be told that the majority of the people in Gitmo were not "scooped up off of the battlefield"? That is the thing that bothers me the most. Being platently lied to and them getting away with it because somehow W. thinks he is beyond reproach.

omf liberal media sourceI won't even listen
