her work installed some program and now she cannot open microsoft word. when she tries, it searches for the office 2000 premium disc, which she does not have access to. what does she need to do?

hmmm, it sucks that they didn't test it. But she will have to get the CD or access a network share with the files.[Edited on March 17, 2006 at 1:35 PM. Reason : +]

tell her to leave a post-it note explaining the situation on her monitor, and then she can head on home. her job is done for the day.

If she has admin. rights to that machine (probably not though), she can restore it back to before they altered it. Then, she can have them try again later to load the correct software.

leave a voice mail to your tech guy and explain the situation.

^^ god damn right

So this was 4 hours ago ... if your tech person can't respond in an hour ... he or she probably should be replaced (IMHO) ... unless somebody more important/higher up was taking up their time all day.

what a dumb bitch
3/17/2006 6:10:57 PM
Perlith, you're missing the big picture... if their tech person breaks MS friggin' Word, they should probably be fired immediately and the computers should be left to themselves until a qualified replacement is found

ah ha- follow-up timemy girlfriend is a loan officer and her place isn't really a hardcore networked place so tech support is minimal. it comes in the form of a "dude who would fix it when he came around" which could be a like a week.but my girlfriend, being the clever little vixen that she is, simply restarted the computer and all was well.
