They won't survive past the second round. I wouldn't be surprised to see Xavier win.
3/16/2006 5:34:35 PM
Xavier already lost to a MVC team this year...why can't the WCC beat them?
3/16/2006 5:35:28 PM
naaa morrision is 2 highly rated to lose in the first round, 2nd though i agree they lose
3/16/2006 5:37:12 PM
The Zags year after year are the most overatted team in the NCAA and this year is no different. Every tourney game in the WCC for them came down to the wire and they were playing AT HOME. They will be gone after the weekend is over
3/16/2006 5:37:28 PM

^^ idk if gw was overrated by the selection committee, i think they saw through their weak schedule
3/16/2006 5:45:12 PM
^^^ yeah usually 8 seeds arent what I would call overrated.
3/16/2006 5:47:16 PM
gonzaga is so overrated it makes me want to vomit .. you put them in the acc and theyd be top top 20 AT BEST ... their biggest homegame of the season (which the students camped out a week in advance for) was fucking stanford in which they barely won. Here are some of the scores in which they barely won and probably should have lost against some powerhouse teams--St Marys : 68-60San Diego: 64-63St Marys: 62-61Stanford: 80-76San Francisco: 75-72Pepperdine: 81-71 (should have been closer)Eastern Washington: 75-65 (should have been closer)Loyola Marymount: 79-70 (should have been closer)San Diego: 96-92 (should have been closer)Loyola Marymount: 68-67 (should have lost)..and thats not even all of themare you kidding me? if they played like that in the ACC, their record would be terriblegrant it, it's only pure speculation, but dont kid yourself, those teams are horrible. And it wasnt just a fluke from one or two bad games, it was more than half their season of very close wins to shitty teams thanks to undeniable luck.AND .. the only top 25 team theyve beat was Michigan State and that was in November ... other than that, theyve only played 4 other top 25 teams (Maryland being one of them which doesnt count) the entire season. How are they even recognized as a top 5, top 10, or even top 25 team at all?!?[/vent][Edited on March 16, 2006 at 6:25 PM. Reason : asdf]
3/16/2006 6:23:08 PM
^ you helped my thread
3/16/2006 6:25:44 PM
a win is a win
3/16/2006 6:46:57 PM
Quit bitching, they played hard against some quality teams OOC, once they got in conference they did what they were supposed to do, they won. Yeah they didn't dominate, they didn't play like a top 5 team, but who in their shitty conference would actually test them if they played like they did OOC. All being in the WCC does is cripple their defensive ability so when tourny time comes around they are much worse off because they arent used to playing good teams. If gonzaga was in the acc I can promise they would still be top 10 and they would do much better once tourney time comes.
3/16/2006 6:49:53 PM
i wouldnt be surprised if they lost to xaviergonzaga is trashbut i think morrisson is good for 1 win, and then its back to washington
3/16/2006 6:55:47 PM
3/16/2006 6:56:19 PM
its not a matter of playing hard .. East Carolina played hard too, and almost beat Memphis (they came alot closer than gonzaga did if im not mistaken) but that doesnt make them top 25 or anywhere close to it.. its a matter of being completely overrated. theyve been top 10/5 all year and havnt showed any reason to be even mentioned in that respect... And yes of course they won when they got in conference ... theyre conference is a JOKE .. its comparable to the damn CAA. A true top 5 / 10 / 15 / 25 team would not have that many close games / near losses to ST MARYS (x 2), SAN DIEGO, SAN FRANCISCO, EASTERN WASHINGTON, and LOYOLA MARYMOUNT (x 2)a true top 5 / 10 / 15 / 25 team would have MORE than 5 games against ranked opponents, let alone winning more than 1 one of them.a win is a win for the polls, but that doesnt keep them from being grossly overrated.
3/16/2006 7:02:25 PM
what is is they say about good teams winning the close games?
3/16/2006 7:21:47 PM
worst argument ever^great teams don't have close games with san fran.I garuntee dook would have blown all those loyola marymounts and san francisos out like nobody's biz.[Edited on March 16, 2006 at 7:23 PM. Reason : fdj]

no one said they aren't good, they said they are overrated. in that case, what was the point of your post?
3/16/2006 7:28:11 PM
i dont think they are overratedwe shall see
3/16/2006 7:32:43 PM
guard play. they just have the professor
3/16/2006 7:40:09 PM
I need an NCSU/Gonzaga game in the final four... someone on here has a 150$ bet with me on that game
3/16/2006 7:41:44 PM
that would be fun when we kick their asses, cause i know we would. Duke UNC BC and NCSU would all beat gonzaga by 10 at least
3/16/2006 7:42:55 PM
hahahahaha.... as much of an NCSU fan as I am, I hardly believe that.
3/16/2006 7:43:23 PM
maybe earlier in the year but definately not the way we have played lately.
3/16/2006 7:45:16 PM
^^^^^^ your un- overrated team is losing to xavier.........[Edited on March 16, 2006 at 7:54 PM. Reason : fds]
3/16/2006 7:54:21 PM
I never said they weren't overrated, they are, they just don't get the respect they deserve, they are a very quality team. And its too early on for you to be talking crap about having a 1 point lead.
3/16/2006 7:55:52 PM

Hey, not too bad considering its their first real opponent in months.
3/16/2006 9:45:44 PM
3/16/2006 10:00:27 PM
any bets on whether they make it through another round?
3/16/2006 10:07:04 PM
I had Gonzaga making the E8 in my bracket.Assuming Indiana wins the 1st round, they're overrated and I can see them losing. But then I had UCLA losing in the Sweet 16 because I was going off the fact that the Pac-10 is total crap this year; considering the way they played today, I may have underrated UCLA...
3/16/2006 10:22:30 PM
Although the Pac-10 is crap...Gonzaga is more total crap. I have Gonzaga beating SDSU (beating Indiana in my "State makes the Final 4 bracket) then getting bitch slapped by UCLA.
3/16/2006 10:24:03 PM
i have indiana...call them overrated but at least do so by being familiar with them...very up and down but on fire at the end of the seasonbeating gonzagahows that for a sentence fragment
3/16/2006 10:36:31 PM
I really wanted to pick Indiana over SDSU and Gonzaga...but I just couldn't do it.I think they either implode in the first round or make a run to the sweet 16. For my sake I'm hoping they implode.
3/16/2006 10:37:47 PM
Just a couple points to ponder when thinking about Gonzaga's seed/ranking.1)They played as tough of an OOC schedule as anyone. No one dominated them, not even UConn (65-63 on a buzzer beater).2)They are Duke in their conference. Everyone circles that game on the schedule, and gives them their best shot because they know that is the one chance they have to get national exposure.3)In the conference tournament, what did they really have to play for other than seeding? Where as the rest of their conference was playing for their post season life. Those are the plusses. The negatives have already been pointed out. I won't even bother to speculate on what they'd do in another conference because there's no real way to get a solid answer without actually moving them, and that's not happening any time soon. I'd venture to say that if they played in one of the power conferences though, they wouldn't have the record they do, but they would still have gotten into the tournament. They have a quality team and can score on anyone. That's going to be enough to get them a few big wins no matter where they play.
