on the back side, there's a twist cap that you take off and the files drain out. just make sure you hold it over your monitor while you do it.

get an analog video input card for your computer, and hook that up to the output of your DVR, then press playThats the only way, you wont be getting any info off the DVR through any other means

if it has firewire ports you may be able to pull stuff of it thru them. You'd just need to find some drivers for the box. Altho if you're really lucky it mounts itself as an external drive. But i wouldn't bet on it.

I think jackleg tried taking out the HD from a Scientific Atlanta DVR box once, he got nowhere with itAll the data written to the drive is encrypted, and AFAIK the firewire ports are disabled. From what I've read the eSATA port will allow you to plugin an external SATA HD. The box will format and mount the external HD, but that is encrypted and cant be read by anything but the DVR box.

i have the non dvr hd box and the ports are enabled. However they've locked down all the non over the air stations so you can record them.i can change the channel thru firewire tho!.
