it sounds like the engine is rattling and there is a whistle in the exhaust (not a bubb rubb whistle)

That's interesting...mine makes a really similar noise.

It's been making it for a really long time, though, so I just ignore it...

My Integra engine made that CLACKETY CLACK noise...

Before a rod wiped two holes in the block and took out the crank girdle.

Seriously, pwrstrkd, you should get that checked out by someone knowledgeable; I'm thinking Jiffy Lube will have the answers.

You may just need a new oil defragmenter and blowby tube.

Mine makes that annoying whistle too.
It seems to get the loudest when I'm towing Bobcat and 2 pallets of stone down I40 passing everybody.

You're stuck with an exhaust brake at the most.

I don't know how you'd do a jake on an engine that doesn't have cam-actuated injectors...

There's gotta be a way...jake brake blows down the cylinder at the top of the compression stroke; used to be accomplished by using the injector cam lobe to actuate the exhaust valve.
