Jay Leno has one so it must be super. Is this the process where you place the item in a tank of ??????? and sonic waves remove dirt/grease/gunk? Sounds like hippie speak to me

i used to do research in a lab and we used a ultrasonic cleaner to clean shit off of stirbars or to mix anything in any vials.
but thats about it
it works with stirbars but id doubt it would work with big hunks of metal.

we use one at work to clean oil/coolant and burrs and chips out of machined parts (loose chips and burrs, it doesn't actually do any deburring. . . apprarently no one around there does any deburring ). actually seems to work pretty good. i changed the fluid the other day and there was a layer a solid .100" thick of chips in the bottom. its also good for prepping parts to be epoxyed.

well we clean circular saw blades. up to say, 20 inches. gotta clean all the sawdust and gunk and shit off them before you can sharpen them.

it's 0 parts scam. I've seen a ton of instruments cleaned with an ultrasonic machine at marsh woodwinds. its amazing how fast years or shit comes off

well we have a little crest tub demo model at the shop now and its not cutting it.

and its a 40khz model...incredibly unimpressive in the demo run

all it managed to do was barely knock off enough dust to turn the water brown after about 2 hours of running

ok i have a holley carb that im about to rebuild, let see if this will clean it up (its barely even dirty actually) without damaging the finish




i dont see how this can work, the thing has been in there 20 minutes @150 degrees and the grease is loose, but not coming off

the gas residue in the fuel bowl is gone though

we use a branson cleaning solution, i'm not sure what the ingredients are. i doubt just plain water would do much of anything.

agreed 100%

all i have here is

hand soap
sodium triphosphate lol its actually trisoduim phosphate
greased lightning
some other very strong industrial degreaser concentrate


my concern is the aluminum, the TSP is good stuff but darkens aluminum. ill have to check the degreaser bottles for cautions

well greased lightning it is. a little mr clean thrown in for good luck.

the results were so-so. its clean, but it wasnt really dirty in the first place either.
