It would be funny if the finals in '08 came down to like Hillary Clinton and Al Sharpton or something...basically a white woman and a black man...and then before they could get elected, Bush and Cheney died and Condoleeza became the first woman and black to be president haha

Black voters will vote for a black candidate.Women won't vote for a woman candidate.
3/11/2006 2:06:22 PM
i think of all women candidates, hillary might have a better chance than others
3/11/2006 2:09:13 PM
Ross Perot for President..

I would NOT vote for some damn Al Sharpton! The State of the Union address would take hours!!"For goodness sakes, lets eat some cake!" [Edited on March 11, 2006 at 2:25 PM. Reason : v]
3/11/2006 2:25:15 PM
first president younger than 35 years old
3/11/2006 2:47:06 PM
^^^I know a black woman would be a really hard sell for the kind of republicans I grew up around in Mayberry. They would never let a democrat do it. But a strong conservative they just might go for. I sometimes wonder if I'd throw aside my political affiliations for one election to help break that barrier for the first time. I think I’d strongly consider it. I mean voting in 1 Condi now, would end up giving me more serious voting options down the road because the Carol Moseley Braun's of the world might be taken more seriously.

"I know a black woman would be a really hard sell for the kind of republicans I grew up around in Mayberry."Braun isn't going to be considered a realistic option by many just because Clinton held office though, whereas Condi might be a different story.[Edited on March 11, 2006 at 3:43 PM. the "Clinton was the first black president" stance is nice and funny and all, but thats about it

first affirmative-action president

3/11/2006 6:33:28 PM
You're one of those "Condoleeza Rice has any chance in hell of becoming president"-type conservatives, aren't you?
3/11/2006 6:38:01 PM
You people circle wagons quick though. gg.
3/11/2006 7:42:11 PM
YOU PEOPLE?!?!?
3/11/2006 7:43:19 PM
bgmims
3/11/2006 7:57:46 PM
black and/or female president = president baltar </nerd>
3/11/2006 8:10:50 PM
I wouldn't vote for Condeleeza Rice...
3/11/2006 9:09:38 PM
3/11/2006 9:33:38 PM
no i would not vote for a bush, but someone less conservative perhaps. condi was an example, but i said things like a condi or 1 condi, or the "brauns of the world"... indicating type more than specific people. i'd be happy to have to put one less qualified person in office, if it meant down the road i could have 5 qualified people in office in a row if the other option was 1 qualified followed by 5 unqualified. no political situation will ever be that cut and dry... but still I would like braun to have gotten more serious consideration.
3/12/2006 12:15:27 AM
affirmative action at its best!
3/12/2006 2:47:35 PM
Mark Warner is not black nor femaleso this discussion is moot until 2015
3/12/2006 3:07:17 PM
i would vote for Christopher Walken, cuz if someone wrote him a good enough script, at least he could act like a better President than George Bush.
3/12/2006 4:11:49 PM
Hahaha...you got me. I don't think she'll be president because I'm a racist. Nothing to do with McCain's brown baby or anything...
3/12/2006 5:01:09 PM
where did I claim you were a racist again?
3/13/2006 11:26:39 AM
Clarify this:
3/13/2006 11:33:46 AM
what's to clarify? you rushed to the defense of your fellow l3ftie in under 5 minutes. no accusations of racism, I was just giving you a gg for being on the ball.[Edited on March 13, 2006 at 1:16 PM. Reason : ]

I personally don't give a crap what race or gender a candidate is.
3/13/2006 2:42:14 PM
but many people do, and once we've experienced more variety in the office then maybe those people would realize its not that bad... but come to think of it, people who would care in the first place probably wouldn't change their opinions even once they experienced variety. After consideration I don't think I'd vote for a condi in hopes of making a braun seem like a more broadly appealing choice, since I don't think it would have that effect that I was wondering about earlier.
3/13/2006 2:51:10 PM
Oh, I understand the political reality facing a minority or woman candidate. I'm just expressing that I personally don't believe that it should matter.
3/13/2006 2:54:16 PM
thats why the republicans will win the electionthey all vote for a white maledemocrats split their votes between women and minorities
3/13/2006 3:22:44 PM
I agree with Pi Master; it shouldn't matter. It does, though.
3/13/2006 4:01:15 PM
3/14/2006 2:24:06 PM
Probably not.Still, going on her credentials, Rice might not be a half bad option.A female President would be hell for Middle East relations, though. :p
3/17/2006 8:45:21 AM
because a durka-hating crusader has been so much better for relations??
3/17/2006 9:43:26 AM
^^just like another bush
3/17/2006 10:03:54 AM
yeah all the countries that dont let women do anything would be real receptive to a female president of the UShavent you heard Borat rank thingsGODMANHORSEDOGRATWOMANINSECT
3/17/2006 10:51:21 AM
since when does America care what the Middle East thinks
3/17/2006 11:47:00 AM
OH MAN, first conservative female president...Just think if it was Laura Bush.Just think! Two more terms of Bush, the soap box would lose its collective mind.
3/17/2006 12:22:52 PM
NEWS FLASH:Two muslim countries have had female heads of state. As has India.lollers@usa.
3/17/2006 2:26:10 PM
^ First-past-the-post election styles do engender conservative candidate selection. It isn't that a female could never win an election in America, but why risk it?
3/17/2006 2:58:18 PM
Why is it a big deal, several other countries have had female heads of state, and many countries in western civilization have female heads of state w/ empresses & queens.I suppose with hereditary things that have the implication of some level of divine right then you are stuck with women, but when it’s a democracy and you can choose, then you get to discriminate more/be more conservative/women in the kitchen.

Well, Hillary won't win in '08 in my opinion she is too much of a polarizing figure. I think the top AA presidential candidate on the horizon is clearly Obama. If he plays his cards right his road to the White House should be destined.
3/31/2006 2:43:44 AM
obama is the anti-christ
