My fiancé and I are getting married in June, and we are looking for places to honeymoon in the USA. We want to buy a house soon after getting married, and we want to put as much money down as possible so we’re trying to not spend truckloads on the honeymoon while still going someplace fun.Any suggestions?

Depends on what you like to do. But since we are talking honeymoons and considering the recent tropical/cruise threads, I would recommend that you at least look at a cruise. Often they very reasonable, even compared to local/close trips. You could go out of florida and drive or fly down there pretty cheaply. It all depends on how much you want to spend. What is your budget? And when is the honeymoon? How long of a trip do you want? And what types of activities do you guys like to do? Inside the USA: San FranciscoNapa ValleyFlorida KeysAsheville/BiltmoreCharlestonOuter BanksRocky Mtns - Colorado for ex. Niagara FallsAppalachian Mtns (fall especially) - i.e. PANew Orleans (yeah, it is back good enough to visit) - plantations, old houses, French Quarter, etc.Memphis (actually a cool place to visit)

San FranciscoMonterey (for bed and breakfast-type honeymoon)I think Colorado would be neat. I'm not a big outdoors-y type, but going for a vacation to be alone with my husband for a week would definitely be high on my list of things to do after we got married.

Charleston or Savannah

Pricing Examples:You can get 7 night cruises out of Miami or Ft. Lauderdale for easily less than $1500 (some dates are as low as $550 each for 7nts). If you want to fly, it will be extra. You could always drive it. 7 nights at the Inn at Biltmore could run you $2000. Of course you could stay at nice places cheaper than that. Just for comparison. Las Vegas - 6nts at New York New York ( or other hotels) plus airfare could run you less than $1600West Palm Beach - for ocean front, 6nts at around $1400 inc. airfareSan Francisco - probably $1400 with airfare for 6nts. also would want to rent a car. check out: http://www.travelzoo.com/andhttp://www.travelocity.com/Vacations/0,,TRAVELOCITY||Y,00.html[Edited on March 10, 2006 at 4:45 PM. I am geting married in June and we are doin g 10 days in Napa Valley and San Francisco. Staying at a a bed and breakfast. Between the shit tons of wine, killer food, and endless sights to see in SF we definitely are going to thoroughly enjoy hourselves... of course then we relax at the hot spring spas in Calistoga while we recover from the wine hangovers.

Our budget is around $2,000 and we both like warm weather. We enjoy museums, window-shopping, swimming, and good restaurants. We thought about a cruise, but all the ones I saw were pretty expensive and didn’t include things like airfare. And I'm a huge wine lover, so that ^ sounds great [Edited on March 10, 2006 at 4:43 PM. I'd go for Disneyland in California. Can't beat Cali for an ecletic mix of all those things you suggest, and Disney is always a winner w/ the lady.

ah yeah that does complicate cruises since you'd have to leave on a monday. suggest looking maybe at all inclusives. you can get packages plus airfare for less than $2000. for 6nts leaving on the 26th, you could get an all inclusive in nassau (not hard to find), paradise island (little harder to find), st. lucia (tougher to do but it is an awesome island), punta cana DR, cabo san lucas (tough but can be gotten), puerto vallarta (not hard to find), costa rica for approx $2000 or less. just check travelocity's vacation deals: all inclusives.anywho, have fun and congrats.[Edited on March 10, 2006 at 5:02 PM. Reason : i say all this cause honestly trips in the usa can run the same or more than international. ]

My deepest apologies! So you'd like Disneyland, eh?!

Royal Carribean and Noreweign run cruises out of Charleston.I love the Mountains in the summer. Look into Black Mountain (Red Rocker Inn) Its low trills, but you can go to grove park for the day and spa treatments. The town is really neat and has great stores. Its 20 minutes outside of Asheville.Charleston and Savannah are also lovely.

I just ordered a AAA tour guide to Charleston - it looks beautiful!

My advice is to seek out the help of a travel agent. We had one help us with our honeymoon last year and he was a lot of help. You have a budget, you know what you'd like to do, and you know when you want to go. A travel agent will be able to present lots of options to you with prices. For $2000 an all-inclusive somewhere in the Carribbean/Mexico/FL Keys would be a good option for you. We did an all-inclusive for 7 nights at a resort in Mexico just south of Cancun and had an absolutely wonderful time.Another good resource for reviews on places to stay is http://www.tripadvisor.com

Yeah my cousin went to Cancun and had a brilliant time. He said not to wander *too* far away b/c the rest of Mexico is, well...stereotypically dirty. But the part that is built for tourist was fabulous.

Check your resorts out carefully, my fiance went to an all inclusive resort in Cancun and the food was horrible (as in unedible). It was a top notch resort recommended by a travel agent.

Outer Banks- that way you wont have to spend $$ on airfare, etc. I went a couple of summers ago and had a better time than I have on any other vacation of my life. I got to go kayaking, parasailing- stuff I wouldn't have been able to afford if I had gone somewhere else.Take lots of pictures [Edited on March 11, 2006 at 1:44 PM. Reason : P.S. I've done the cruise thing and had a terrible time. ]
