One of my all time favorites. It lost best picture to Kramer Vs. Kramer.

more like "it lost best picture to the fact that its a rambling car wreck of a film"]

I saw the Redux version by the way...supposed to have like 45 minutes more footage^maybe so...but Kramer vs. Kramer?? and who doesnt like watching a good car wreck]

Ugh, I've seen the original. This is all the original footage, plus more. Ugh, watch the Reduxthats like me saying "I saw Leon: The Professional...supposed to have like an extra half hour of footage" and you saying "um, watch the original"]

The Redux adds extraneous material that totally fucks up the pacing. Longer doesn't always = better.

i dont think it fucked up the pacing...you're either sitting down for a 2:45 flick or a 3:20 flick

do you think coppola would agree that it fucks up the pacing?
3/6/2006 3:43:01 PM
Coppola only went back and made the "Redux" version because he needed financing for his dream project (which will probably never get made anyway). Don't get me wrong the Redux version is still better than most films, but the pacing was perfect in the original.

^ The redux version DOES feel slightly more grueling than the original.
3/6/2006 4:44:30 PM
but its WAR! its supposed to be grueling! they shouldve made the redux version 30 hours!

its not about something you can watch in a little 2 hour time slot before you go to the coffee shop...its a fucking good war movie
