I've been wanting to do some sort of work abroad but don't know how to go about it. I've looked at these programs and wondered if anybody else has done it. If so, did you like it? How much did it pay? Was it worth it? Etc.

I had a friend that did it for a year (in Japan) and he said that he got paid through the program, but it wasn't a whole lot of money. He said if you were smart you marketed yourself around and tutored people in English (who weren't in the program) and THAT is where you made the money.

Don't know the name of the program he was in. He made mad money though- had enough to put a down payment on a house when he came back.

He said he'd do it again in a heartbeat if he didn't have attachments (he has a gfriend now and a house so....)

That's what I'm worried about. I'm in that situation. I was looking at the shorter term ones if possible. I just didnt know if we'd be able to afford it on that salary. I just want to have enough to have money to cover bills here as well.
