Stephen Davis, Rod "He hate me" Smart, and Brentson Buckner. Thought it needed its own thread.http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2350202[Edited on March 2, 2006 at 10:33 AM. Reason : ...]
3/2/2006 10:31:09 AM
they're still not under the current salary cap
3/2/2006 10:32:17 AM
just going to go ahead and tell you that they are going to post links to other threads that are talking about this...
3/2/2006 10:32:51 AM
really wish we didnt get rid of he hate me
3/2/2006 10:45:43 AM
The Panthers are fixin to load up on a big name... Shaun? Edgerrin? Jamal?
3/2/2006 10:48:24 AM
don't count on it.
3/2/2006 10:49:32 AM
Key players?Stephen Davis --- sucked so terribly we put him on the IR even though he wasnt hurt.Rod Smart --- good special teamer, but hasnt been that great since he busted his knee 2 years agoBrentson Buckner --- good locker room guy, old and cant play full-time, we're drafting a DT to replace himThese were all appropriate cuts.
3/2/2006 10:51:41 AM
Any chance the Panthers take a chance on McCargo at DT?
3/2/2006 10:52:28 AM
i hope davis sticks around on the sidelines
3/2/2006 10:53:57 AM
^^ We're probably taking a DT in the first round, so its doubtful. In later rounds anything is possible though
3/2/2006 10:55:25 AM
Just a thought, probally wouldnt happon but, Peppers and Williams at DTs
3/2/2006 11:02:19 AM
Peppers at DT?? you have to be joking
3/2/2006 11:03:37 AM
Whatever, you know what I mean.
3/2/2006 11:07:19 AM
man all three of those guys were awesome...i hate to see all of them go, woulda really liked to see them stick around but in reality it was time for them to go.
3/2/2006 11:11:01 AM
we already have Rucker and we couldnt fit Mario Williams under our cap. Also, we dont really have anything we could trade to get Mario that would make any sense...
3/2/2006 11:11:28 AM
Holding Defense #99and your cutHe got D holding 1 too many times in the playoffs for my liking. That shows he has lost a step or lost technique so he has to reach. I know he is trying to occupy 2 OLs so the LBs can make the plays but he used to be able to do it.
3/2/2006 11:12:37 AM
ESPN is also saying they might cut Kasay, that'd suck...
3/2/2006 11:21:09 AM
ESPN is saying he might retire, hell will freeze over before we cut him
3/2/2006 11:24:08 AM
REALLY??? Oh man i hope so. That bible thumping fag needs to be gone.
3/2/2006 11:26:29 AM
well said emo fag
3/2/2006 11:29:35 AM
emo haha.. what?
3/2/2006 11:35:55 AM
I'd hate to see Kasay go, but I have always had a feeling that the rapture will come as he is about to kick a game-winning FG.
3/2/2006 12:10:40 PM
Rod Smart had become a head case and ineffectiveBuckner was old and there were thoughts he might retire plus his cap figure was over 6 millionStephen Davis wasn't a surprise he is to injury prone and not fast enough anymore. The Panthers were 11 million over the cap they are reworking Minter's deal and will probably rework Peppers 14 million dollar deal.
3/2/2006 12:13:56 PM
Kasay is the only remaining original Panther. They won't cut him.
3/2/2006 12:22:34 PM
they will if they need to clear up cap room, kickers are always expendable, Kasay is clutch and I would hate to see him go but he is not good at kicking off and he is getting older so no telling how much longer the leg strength will last.
3/2/2006 12:29:28 PM
Kasay is decent, but he has a habit of not coming through in cluch situations, and making stupid mistakes....i'm still pissed about him kicking the kickoff out of bounds in the superbowl. We could find another kicker, easy
3/2/2006 12:43:16 PM
3/2/2006 1:01:34 PM
Wish DeShaun was on that list, we have to address RB, Foster cant carry the load for an entire year
3/2/2006 1:04:40 PM
he's made of glass
3/2/2006 1:15:26 PM
^panthers will pick of a heavy duty back
3/2/2006 1:17:02 PM
Deshaun isnt going anywhere and Edge and Soft Shaun and Jamal arent coming anywhere near the Panthersthey need to renegotiate Jake's contract to help get some kind of free agent though...either a running back or a receiver (WR or TE)hopefully we can find a way to resign Will Witherspoon, he is solidand theres no way in hell we cut Kasay...everybody thinks he's a choker but the last bad thing he did in a game was over 2 years ago...nobody likes to remember the ~6-8 games he won with field goals that same season]
3/2/2006 1:17:41 PM
panthers need to get another good wide receiver so then they wont double up on smith as much
3/3/2006 11:19:56 AM
Short was released and several other players placed under tender.
3/3/2006 11:22:00 AM
3/3/2006 11:24:24 AM
don't put much faith in the mock drafts, one unexpected trade or pick can totally change the whole draft.
3/3/2006 11:37:23 AM
3/3/2006 11:41:39 AM
no one can understand that Kris Mangum is as good as its gonna get in our offense
3/3/2006 11:44:11 AM
^^good point[Edited on March 3, 2006 at 11:44 AM. Reason : i was too slow]
3/3/2006 11:44:25 AM
mangum is actually a good fit for our offense, good blocker, and can catch the rare ball that comes his way. Gaines is pretty good too.however, with smitty, a great, fast receiving TE could really open things up.
3/3/2006 11:47:18 AM
we'd better start thinking about LB's or we will be in a pickle next year
3/3/2006 11:48:29 AM
I am ready to see Thomas Davis at LB, he fuckin lights people up on special teams. One of the hardest hitters in the league i think.
3/3/2006 11:51:18 AM
hopefully they will realize that he isn't an every down safety.
3/3/2006 11:52:51 AM
i think they realized that like the second game of the season. you know, when marlon mcree began starting at safteywho, by the way, we need to resign[Edited on March 3, 2006 at 12:22 PM. Reason : .]
3/3/2006 12:21:22 PM
from what i've heard the past couple of months, the coaching staff is still thinking about trying to work him into a saftey position, but hopefully with their worsening LB situation, they've dropped that.
3/3/2006 1:17:11 PM
thats the only cut davis has made all year
3/3/2006 2:24:12 PM
^burn
