Anyone have any opinions on this product? I'm considering buying it for my two kitties.

buy the littermaid litter if you can. Seems to have a lot less problems with the motor.

Don't bother. It smells worse than a standard litter box and is more trouble than it is worth. Everyone I know that got one, including my parents, ended up throwing it away very shortly.

it's saved alot of time and hassle for me and my girlfriend. you can use any kind of litter just make sure it is good clumping litter. we get more life out of the litter and as long as it clumps well it will pick it up. definitely would recommend it. Also, it's entertaining to them every time it runs both of our cats run and it stare it like it's something new and interesting.

hmmm...might save money and buy a litter locker instead

kind of like a diaper genie but for cat litter

i'm moving to a third floor apartment and I am too lazy to run downstairs once or twice a day

I have a litter locker...it's convenient as a trash can, but if you actually rotate it as often as it says, it uses up those bags pretty quick. I just turn it a little each time to make room for the next batch.

My sister has a littermaid, but she keeps it on her screen porch and only has one cat using it. She's had it for a while. I wonder if it's till working...

my cats just go outside a couple times a day, don't have to worry about a litter box and the smell associated with it.

Don't get one. You have to change the little "poop trap" box in there as often or more often than you have to change a regular litterbox. After having mine for a week, I sold it on ebay.

the absolute best option i have found in litter boxes is just using a large rubbermaid container. seriously, it's like $4 at walmart/target, you can pick a nice color, and it keeps the smell in and the tracking to a minimum. cut a hole in the lid at one end, stick it in a closet or cabinet, and close the door just enough so that the cats can come and go. they have to walk across the top to get out, so they only track litter on the lid. put one of those litter tracking mats on top and it's even better. i've used this for a couple of years now and it's really the best thing i've tried.

i've tried the booda dome, the booda big igloo thing, an automatic box, etc etc. they all sucked.

plus if the container gets really gross, just toss the whole thing and start again. cleaning is way easier too.

they're cats, of course they can see in there!

my old roommate's cat would just squat over the hole and go that way. my cat's actually go into the box. i have one that is difficult to adjust to new things, but he took to it very well with no problems.

you could just get one and give it a try in addition to the box you have now. it's only $4.

I would suggest just investing in some decent litter and getting one of those cat house litter boxes...you know, the ones with the top. Just make sure you take the "swinging door" off of it before you use it. My cat got stuck in it the first time she tried to use it. It traumatized her for a couple of hours. Anyway, they have filters on the lids to help with the odor and they're really deep, so cats don't make as much of a mess. If you use Tidy Cats - Small Spaces you also don't have to change the litter nearly as often. I have 3 cats and one container of the small spaces lasts me at least 2-3 weeks, whereas the other bags of litter were lasting me only a week and a half.

my cat really hated using the litter maid. i think he was just obliging me. he would always scratch around it and fling litter outside the box. after the switch to a new box, no problems at all.

i use a covered box from wal-mart (~$13). i only use the bottom portion. it works rather well.

get a shoe scrubber porch mat from the house wares section for $3 and you have a very clean and easy to maintain litter area. i just use my dustbuster if i see any stray litter and shake out the mat every now and then. it's very simple and takes no time at all.

every month or so, i'll completely change out the litter and hose out/scrub out the cat box.

arm & hammer multi-cat has been the best litter i've found (smell control and fast adhesion). i've tried them all. most, if not all of them suck badly and are a waste of money.
