Hey guys, I had started a thread on dedicated hosting, but this seems more realistic. I'm looking at starting a nonprofit hosting company as part of a project for school, so I need to keep the costs minimal. However, I need the following things; - 1 email account per user - 1 subdomain account per user - 20-30 mb disc space per user - reasonable bandwidth per user - sitebuilding tools/templates and easy to use menus - direct web-based access (like cpanel, etc.) for control over their own sites - the ability to set limits for each individual account (size limits, bandwidth limits, etc.) Anyway, those are the basics. I want them to be full function sites. I just went on a real quick search and one of the sponsored links was the following; http://ace-host.net/resellerplus.html I don't know what the average will be in total for price, but I don't really want to spend $500 for a school project unless I was making something off of it. Anything reliable and cheaper than this? Thanks! Mike

You can get all of that and more through resellerzoom or any number of other hosting reseller sites for less than 10 bucks a month.Need to go up to about 25 to get 99.99% uptime though.

Good point, man. Thanks. I don't need 100% uptime, no. But thanks for the suggestion. Anyone/thing else? Mike

just a note, you are going to end up getting burned on this financially. Just realize that. Most for profit hosting companies break even at best over the longhaul. I cant imagine the monetary hemoraghing (sp) in a nonprofit one.

How many accounts do you anticipate needing? I can meet all of your requirements including cpanel and give you a very reasonable price. My company hosts several other TWW people as well as thewolfweb.com itself as of tonight.

http://www.dreamhost.com/shared/comparison.htmlYou can get a year of level 1 (20GB disk, 1TB/mo bandwidth, unlimited domains) for $22.40 ($119.40-$97 promo code - SAVINGS). The next year won't be that cheap, but still, for a school project how long do you anticipate needing it?

Noen; thanks, I do realize I'll end up losing money on this - that's not why I'm doing it. Quagmore; thanks for the tip; that doesn't look too shabby. I've used cpanel and fantastico before and like them - I'll have to do a little more exploring. Thanks! Mello; not entirely sure - maybe something from 5 - 200. There's no way to tell jsut yet. I'd always like to have the opportunity to expand if need be, but I doubt it. Can you PM me with a price estimate? Bwilson; thanks for the tip - that's a good price. I don't know that I'll need it for more htan a year. But then again, the price I save now might be worth it. Mike
