gg Chuck for keeping the coaching staff together and bringing this guy up in the rankings..good for the moral of the team and lower coaches.
2/27/2006 5:35:40 PM
great hire, but i would have waited till after summer so he could work with the line all that time
2/27/2006 5:35:57 PM
Atleast he is used to Amato's bullshit so he won't up and run in a year like most of our assistants
2/27/2006 5:35:58 PM
okhow is someone with NO o-line coaching experience whatsoever a good hire?so now people like derek morris will still be stong as shit and will have even fewer fundamentals, if that is possible.
2/28/2006 11:58:23 AM
i thought morris declared for the draft[Edited on February 28, 2006 at 12:29 PM. Reason : but i get your point, of course]

Coach Meyer is cool as all hellhe used to go on runs from the murphy center to Weisger-Brown and back, hes a freak
2/28/2006 8:54:23 PM
I'm split on this decision, because:
2/28/2006 9:03:19 PM
It's good for continuity on the staff, rewarding those who have stuck it through, etc., although I would have rather have seen Amato bring in a coach from outside the program since whatever's been going on with the OL as of late hasn't been working very well. Hopefully Meyer will help turn things around.
2/28/2006 9:05:29 PM
im sure the guy knows how to coach an o line.
2/28/2006 9:06:01 PM
take bighit's word for it, if he thinks he is a good hire, he would know better than anyone else
2/28/2006 11:58:06 PM
well i think anytime you hire from within the program is strengthenedi just know hes a good man, not only that but he and stroud are clowns and thats good for morale barry was an asshole, meyers will get it done and make himself a student of his trade to do it
3/1/2006 12:00:01 AM
i mean player confidence in their coach is key in any program
3/1/2006 12:06:00 AM
^ i agreethis among other things i'm noticing & hearing about are starting to make me feel that Amato is finally learning to play his hand; instead of simply trying to get the best card and letting the cards play themselves
3/1/2006 12:07:31 AM
to the clowns that commented about his no O-Line coaching experiencehe started O-Line all 4 years and was the CAPTAIN of the team..not the QB as always...an O Lineman...what more do u want, gotta start somewhere on the totem pole, at least he wasnt a kicker tellin the O line what to do[Edited on March 1, 2006 at 12:26 AM. Is he related to Urban Meyer, because the two kinda resemble each other?

i think the most important thing is he relates much more the players than Berry. The players have always had a good bond with the S&C coaches (see T. Stroud). This will be an upgrade from Berry. I expect improvement in the OL in '06
3/1/2006 8:42:50 AM
This guy is a player's coach... young...and can recruit. He played OLine himselft. I think he'll do a good job
3/1/2006 8:45:08 AM
the line will be better because shitty ass Dwayne Herndon and Derrick Morris are no longer here.
3/1/2006 3:55:13 PM
Don't knock Herndon. He was a DT that moved over... it's not like he just sucked after years of practice. He was asked to fill a role, didn't bitch, and did the best he could[Edited on March 1, 2006 at 5:54 PM. Reason : Hopefully, we can build depth so we don't have to do that...]
