yes. got a few offers off of jobs i posted for on monster. the interview:application is like 1:50 though (and i'm not exaggerating too much). a lot of companies use monster to post their "wishlist". some don't even have funding yet for the jobs they post - they are just trying to see who they can get to apply. funny thing is that i received one call back like 8 months after i had applied. just apply apply apply. OR if you have some years of experience, get a head hunter. if and when i start looking for a new job, that will be the first call i make.

Yea, I tried it. Had some success.Got a couple of interviews, which later turned into some job offers from monster.I ended up taking a job that i found in the N&O, though.

a head hunter? Is that like a travel agent for the job market?

i got plenty of calls but they were never for what i wantedit was always some sales, outside sales or telemarketing bullshitbut i still got called tho[Edited on February 27, 2006 at 12:07 PM. Reason : there were a few good ones tho, just didnt match the pay i wanted]

I always got calls from people wanting me to sell insurance. I read an article somewhere that companies only hire like 1% of thier workforce from online listings. Another trick to it is to update your profile or upload your resume once a day so yours is always at the top of the listings. You know the people that read through those things only go through the first page or two of entries.

I got my current job thanks to my listing on Monster, and it's pretty cool. Benefits and all that.

First job was from a website (monster or computerjobs), second was connections. Connections are the heezy. They flew me down for an onsite interview without even communicating with me.

Got my job at boeing via monster

i've had several interviews and one accepted job as a result of monster listings. just be aware that ~75% of the listings on these sites are posted by head hunters. i've had mixed results with head hunters. a good one can be a real asset, bad ones are just annoying.
2/27/2006 9:22:01 PM
^yah, i have not really had good results with headhuntersmy current job though, i did get through monster, which i'm happy i happened to find at the time.-ZiP!-

The advantage to using a headhunter is the level of discretion. If you've posted a resume online and your current employer comes across your resume, they might not be so happy to discover you're job hunting

Got my part time job via monster

Are the jobs you guys are getting off of Monster a result of having your resume posted and then people contact you, or is it that you are responding to posted ads?BTW, I got my current job off of Monster by responding to an ad.
2/28/2006 7:42:43 AM
failure
2/28/2006 8:36:28 AM
^^ mine was in response to a posted ad. if they contact you first, sometimes that's not a good sign. not always though, if they get your name from a more industry-specific site/organization and contact you first, it can potentially be a good thing.-ZiP!-

I've had a few offers from Monster. I think it's probably better than some other online job seeking sites.
2/28/2006 11:22:21 PM
I pulled interviews/offers both from people compaines which contacted me and companies from I contactedas long as it not a "work at home deal" the places seemed legit

every time i search monster lately, it is all staffing agencies.i hate dealing with their bullshit, i mean they contact you saying your resume is impressive, then make you take tests and treat you like a damn kid. fuck that.
