Anyone ever use the company TNT for international shipping. I might be buying a laptop from some guy in the UK and I'm kind of sketchy about doing it international. He wants to use TNT and the way they do it is the guy gives them the laptop to ship, I pay TNT, I receive laptop and once I agree laptop is o.k. and what I actually wanted, TNT pays the seller.

It sounds legit and it makes sense...basically the seller doesn't get paid unless I OK it through TNT first. I'm just skeptical about doing business with someone in the UK (although I could just as easily get f**ked by someone in the US).

So, anyone ever use TNT for international shipping? Information and details about their policies can be found here:

Nobody asked you to do any research...I simply asked if anyone has used this company before or had any experience with them or known anyone that has.

So get off my nuts (and my thread)!

Quote :
"After expressing his interest in the buggy via the site, Hatia, of east London, was contacted directly -- not through eBay -- by the supposed seller and offered a red Bugaboo "Frog" for US$550. The "seller" told him she would hand over the buggy to the carrier, TNT.

It would notify Hatia when it had the buggy and he would send the cash to her via the transfer service Western Union and give TNT the payment details.

Once TNT had delivered the buggy, he would instruct the carrier to release the payment information so she could collect the money.

The trick in such cases is that the real, respectable TNT carrier is not involved at all. Emails purporting to come through TNT come straight from the con artists. The links to sites which are included on the "seller's" email are to fake TNT sites created by the fraudsters. The victim is releasing the payment details straight to those behind the deception.

Hatia became suspicious and pulled out. As a marketing expert he sees the skill in tempting him with a clever choice of product.

TNT has come across around 40 such cases in the UK, involving a range of goods. The giant US carriers have received many hundreds of complaints.

Garreth Griffith, head of safety for eBay in the UK, said only 0.01 percent of the transactions carried out on the site could be confirmed as fraud.

He had not come across the TNT scam but pointed out there were warnings on eBay about the dangers of trading off-site and sending money by electronic transfer.

Griffith said 1,000 people around the world worked on security issues for eBay. High- and low-tech innovations were continually being introduced to make fraud more difficult.

But the bottom line for the company is that buyers in the virtual world should use the same common sense they would use in a street market.

^ First of all if you read my first post you'd realize there is a link to the TNT website...so your research...was pointless.

Thanks for taking the time to research for me (I guess) but all you did was give me the URL to their website..which I already had a link to in the post.

As far the information in the posts...I just wanted to make it clear who I was calling "Capt. Obvious".

So, Capt. Obvious, thanks for the extensive research!

The USA link found on the TNT.com website: http://www.tnt.com/country/en_us.html

The link you provided: http://express-tnt.us/overseas.transactions/details.html

Compare the two. Notice how the link you provided has a different web page design. The links on the left and on top are blue and underlined, where as on my page they are gray and not underlined, and of a smaller font.

Now, the final indication that you're about to get scammed, type in a bullshit address on each site. Like for the first one do: http://www.tnt.com/country/ennneeee.htm

See? You get a TNT 404 page. Now, on your shitty site, do the same thing, like this: http://express-tnt.us/overseas.transactions/detailolerskeet.html

BEHOLD! You are sent to one of those bullshit placeholder pages on some random place on the internet.

Walk away and don't get scammed.

^ Thanks for the information and help! I figured it was too simple and too good to be true. After the second e-mail the guy stopped replying so that was the final red flag even though I was already suspicious. I knew TNT was a legit company...I just didn't think this guy was actually using them.

Thanks for taking the time to help me out...and not just give me the link to the homepage!

The real TNT page also has a flashing link in the top left called "Internet Fraud" talking about this type of scam.

you fucking moron, the LINK they posted for you was to the REAL homepage. Not to the scam site that you put in your first post.

Maybe you should stop using the internet, because if you can't look at the URL and tell the difference IMMEDIATELY, you are too dangerous to yourself to be online.

YEAH BUT TNT WILL NOT TAKE IT TO YOUR DOOR...THEY ARE A FOWARDER....WHEN SHIPPING SOMETHING AS SMALL AS A LAPTOP IT ISN'T COST EFFECTIVE TO USE A FORWARDER AND TAKES A LOT LONGER THAN USING A FED EX,DHL, OR UPS THAT WILL TAKE IT DIRECTLY TO YOUR DOOR
