What do ya'll think about the medically enhanced eye-steroids (not technically steroids, but close to it) that baseball and softball players are using now? Brian Roberts uses them amongst others. Some athletes at our school could use them as well. But they enhance their vision/ability/performance.... What is the different between them and steroids? How long before they are outlawed?
2/24/2006 7:09:01 PM
do they give you zits on your eyeballs?
2/24/2006 7:14:12 PM
lol... don't know. never tried them. But seriously, if they make you see better which would help you hit better... how are they legal? They aren't like bifocals, they are medically enhanced.
2/24/2006 7:16:21 PM
whoa, i totally made up a presentation in my sports marketing class senior year of high school in which my made up product was eye steroids, and i had no idea that they were a real thing
2/24/2006 7:16:26 PM
youre going to need to link me to some evidence and science behind this.
2/24/2006 7:22:14 PM
dont know of a link but my mom works for an eye doctor and the prescribe these things all the time for athletes. she's the one who asked me how in the hell they were legal.
2/24/2006 7:49:11 PM
prescribes WHAT ?
2/24/2006 7:49:50 PM
the damn contacts. i'm not a doctor. next time i talk to my mom i'll ask her what they are called.
2/24/2006 7:55:43 PM
He's talking about contact lenses, folks.[Edited on February 24, 2006 at 7:56 PM. Reason : Exactly one second too slow.]
2/24/2006 7:55:44 PM

doubful that any are 'medically enhanced'surely you can tune the molecular structure of the polymers used to enhance certain colors, or change contrast.
2/24/2006 8:08:46 PM
They are by NIKE. You can get them without a prescription but their sole purpose is to enhance their ability in sports (baseball, softball, tennis, etc.).
2/24/2006 8:11:01 PM
impossible. all contacts must be fitted, you need to know the curvature of your eye.[Edited on February 24, 2006 at 8:11 PM. Reason : -]
2/24/2006 8:11:37 PM
Check out this link. I'm sure they are not illegal, but I was just wondering what ya'lls thoughts were about them? If they give you an "edge", then why allow them?http://www.nike.com/nikevision/main.html#section=product&subSection=product_maxsight

becuase they do what sunglasses do.[Edited on February 24, 2006 at 8:16 PM. Reason : -]

Alright then, case closed. It's just interesting.[Edited on February 24, 2006 at 8:17 PM. Reason : q]
2/24/2006 8:16:46 PM
lol.... but why would people pay thousands for these things compared to sunglasses? I believe you, I just think there is more to it.
2/24/2006 9:51:32 PM
Kyle Wright for Miami, and Ken Griffey both used them for parts of last seasonjust make your eyes look red and demonicno difference between this or an anklee brace....sun stick...or wearing flip up glassesnot even close to being "steroids"
2/24/2006 9:52:51 PM
I believe you guys, but why are they sold by Doctor's and not by K-Mart?
2/24/2006 9:55:06 PM
for baseball, not only does it help with the sunlight, but it also helps you with reading the spin of the baseball. I read an interview where Brian Roberts said he could clearly see that laces.I bet it makes hitting a randy johnson slider a lot easier
2/24/2006 9:55:30 PM
its all nike hype, i followed miami football pretty close when i was down there, and from what I hear Kyle Wright did not like them, only wore them for the first game or 2if you can see the laces on a 90+ mile an our fastball i got a bridge i will sell ya
2/24/2006 9:57:42 PM
i've never seen someone get something so wrong in their own threadeverseriouslyare my glasses eye-steroids?my grampa had a hearing aid, was that a steroid?[Edited on February 24, 2006 at 10:03 PM. Reason : ?]
2/24/2006 10:03:07 PM
Lol, alright man. I was very serious when saying that they were actual eye-steroids. I didn't know what they were to start with until I found out more about them (see later in the thread). But thanks for stating the obvious.
2/24/2006 10:05:05 PM

2/24/2006 10:16:38 PM
