very baller, my fucks.

I must admit, I'm a little skeptical. BPL failed miserably due to issues with RF interference among other things, although, when constrained within a home a lot of these issues are eliminated. I can't find a lot about the underlying technology, so I'll reserve judgement when I can learn more about the data transmission method.

massive Qam probably, many many channels... theres no way in hell they could do that serially...pretty cool overall, I too want to see the underlying technology...BPL failed EMI expecially at ham radio frequencies... It also had problems with step up step down transformers... You can already buy those outlet controller things, they operate on these principles... they just kicked it up a notch [Edited on February 23, 2006 at 11:50 AM. Reason : reasons BPL failed shouldn't matter for home like bobby said]

might not be a qam constalation, I was really just refering to having to use a whole bunch of frequency channels to get 200Mb/s of course I know for a fact that their 1000/100/10 switch won't do anywhere near 1000... so it wouldn't be the first time they over spec'd a line rate
2/23/2006 3:35:30 PM
haha, oh yeah, i'm sure 200Mb is marketing math. It's likely 100Mb/s Full duplex with 1500 byte packets.
2/23/2006 4:28:18 PM
of course, full duplex = x2
2/23/2006 11:18:01 PM
ahaha, i can see the spin now.NEW, NOW WITH X2 TECHNOLOGY!!!1!!1!!!!11shiftone!11

great, because the 100mbps ones actually only operate at like 10-30mbps max.
2/23/2006 11:34:27 PM
you people are assholesMarketing has engineered products for the last 40 years, why stop nowits not if, its when
2/23/2006 11:49:37 PM
wow quinn, were you always a fucktard or is that what you are in school for?
2/24/2006 12:29:49 AM
if you come to state seeking anything other then a degree in fucktard you came to the wrong placeBRNZ WAKE, DUKE, UNC

^^^^^ is that the CRS-1?if it is, its another case of marketing math... there is no freaking way in hell that thing does 92Tb/s... I saw the lab in person... I asked the lab manager how on earth they saturated it to really test it... he was like well we've only saturated 1 blade and it ran at 40Gb/s... ok so backplanes are finicky business, AND they were just multiplying multiple racks to get that number... in reality it probably will do 20Tb/s or something along those lines (still fast as shit but still marketing math)...
2/24/2006 6:33:16 PM
^ but thats just it... CRS-1 is a system, not just the capability of one backplane...When one whole rack is a dedicated switch fabric, you cannot just measure the speed of one backplane
