Any of you fuckers that actually know something about baseball interested in starting a fantasy league? An actual serious one, not one where half the people dont even check their team after the first month or one where someone who likes the fucking Brewers drafts all of their players etc:Live, in-person (not online) draft$50 entry feeWinner - 75%2nd - 20%3rd - 5%would use a finely tuned scoring system based on 15 years of experience keepers for the next year etc.We have a non-tww league that we ran last year but a lot of people moved away so I dont know if that one will go again, or be merged with this one or what... just trying to see if there is any interest

2/25/2006 10:32:11 PM
can you post the settings/point allocations
2/25/2006 10:33:11 PM
ok, like I said, this is a finely tuned system... for the most part it is based on actual baseball "worth", I hate systems where something that is uncommon but not really a HUGE deal in baseball is worth more than a 3 run homer. For the most part every "base" is worth a point. a single = 1, double = 2, triple = 3 etc. For example, a sacrifice is worth 1 point for getting a player one base over... We originally had steals worth 1 because the player "gained one base" but I did concede that SBs werent worth enough so be bumped that up to 2... but for the most part its all based on a one base = one point type of system if that makes sense. Here it isMax Games Played: 162 Max Innings Pitched: 1250 Starters: C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, LF, CF, RF, UtilSP, SP, SP, SP, RP, RP, RP, P8 Bench, 2 DL spotsBatters:R (4)1B (1)2B (2)3B (3)HR (4)RBI (4)SH (1)SF (1)SB (2)CS (-1)BB (1)HBP (1)K (-1), Pitchers:IP (2)W (40)L (-20)CG (10)SHO (10)SV (25)ER (-2)BB (-1)HBP (-1)K (2)WP (-1)BLK (-1)SVOP (-10)HLD (17.5)

2/25/2006 11:17:09 PM
bttt.Come on bitches...
2/26/2006 2:44:36 PM
error on the scoring system I put in aboveK (1)Hold (7.5)
2/26/2006 3:12:09 PM
I have been in a league with Jaybee1200 for the past 6-7years. It is a good scoring system and generally at least 3/4 of the teams are in contention till the end. I have won it a couple times and I would've had a good shot last year except I had the all injury team. And, when he says keeper league that doesn't mean a dynasty it means two to four keepers.
2/26/2006 3:21:39 PM
w/ k's being 1 that seriously makes pitchers not as valuable as position players
2/26/2006 4:06:06 PM
last year was the first year we had it at 2 instead of 1, and pitchers were too high...
2/26/2006 4:22:25 PM
bttti wanna do this, cmon peopleps is this going to be based on yahoo after the draft?[Edited on February 26, 2006 at 11:50 PM. Reason : d]
2/26/2006 11:50:02 PM
^^ u still gotta change itwith the current point settings, roger clemens had the same amount of points as Craig Monroe
2/27/2006 12:13:37 AM
hmmm, well, I am open to that, but it seemed like last year that pitchers were really high... Clemens was the same as Monroe with with 2 points for every inning pitched?
2/27/2006 12:35:40 AM
yeswhat i did is create a yahoo league just like the one we are going to doto see how the allocations will affect the player's rankings and where they should be draftedwith k's 1, monroe=clemens
2/27/2006 12:38:16 AM
we originally had it at 1 point for every K for years, but last year Yahoo originally had it where IP couldnt be a category, so we bumped K's up to 2 to compensate for that but then yahoo went back and added IPs and it seemed like pitchers were too high. I will do some investigation and comparison to last years stats and let you know... but the gist of the scoring system and league configuration is as posted above.let me know if any of you know other people on here who know their shit and want to be in...
2/27/2006 12:39:39 AM
I wish I lived in Raleigh, I would fucking DEFINITELY join this...that would be so much fun
2/27/2006 12:40:36 AM
where do you live?
2/27/2006 12:47:09 AM
2/27/2006 12:55:21 AM
yeah thats cool, just was curious as to whther yahoo had the capability to do all those different stats
2/27/2006 1:41:10 AM
alright, I am somewhat let down... everyone that claims to know their shit disappears when they have to back it with a teeny tiny little bit of cash-ola...
2/27/2006 1:18:13 PM
I live in Kansas now, but if no one else joins, I'll get in and mail you the $20.[Edited on February 27, 2006 at 2:31 PM. Reason : grammer]
2/27/2006 2:31:00 PM
my 20 bucks is up for grabs people. i am not a baseball guru, I just look at stats and pick
2/27/2006 2:36:19 PM
The in person draft is going to rule out a few people. The unusual scoring system will rule out some too, I don't think many people claim extensive knowledge about who is going to improve the most in the sac fly category this year. Not complaining, just trying to explain.
2/27/2006 4:35:56 PM
Hahaha, well, the in person draft is a must. Thats the best part of the damn season. And the scoring system isnt meant to have people looking around for who is the best sacrifice bunter... its meant to give roughly equal reward to things that have approximately the same value in baseball. Advancing a runner on an out is worth more than just an out, so it should get something...
2/27/2006 5:16:43 PM
Yeah, like I said, wasn't complaining
2/27/2006 5:21:06 PM
its all good8 so far:Jaybee1200steviewonderwlb420TurnipBoobsR_gr8SaddamizerRedWolfschdlerfist

sigh.here, let me do this, it will get attention.Go Vols, they are SO going to win the National Championship this year, its a no brainer...now, get your fucking $20 out
2/28/2006 2:17:09 PM
2/28/2006 11:46:19 PM
come up for the draft, thats close enough
3/1/2006 1:24:03 AM
whens this gonna be, mid-marchish? I think we should wait till after the WBC to see how certain players do and if anyone good gets hurt.
3/1/2006 11:47:03 AM
yeah, I was think late march, somewhere around a week or so before the season starts.
3/1/2006 2:30:50 PM
is this going to happen? i need to gamble away my 20 bucks. If 20 isnt enough with this many people, i could go 30 if everyone else is willing
