i like three, but most of mine are two (it's the other way around neil)

i also like double vented jackets and i'm glad they've come back in

four+ buttons is pushing it for most settings unless you're involved with high fashion or you're a nba player

I have 2 2-button, 4 3-buttons, and 2 4-buttons suits, and getting 2 more 4 buttons in june

I like the 3/4 button as they fit better and will buy more of them

as one who wears a suit mon-thursday, and working in DC, I see a ton of 2 button black suits, however most non black suits are 3/4 button

however...I have seen some guys wearing 5,6, and yikes a 7 button suit once That is tacky

it's not tacky, it's trendy!

and good-used-car expensive most of the time

[Edited on February 21, 2006 at 9:28 PM. Reason : i think it's tacky, but apparently it's cool at the moment]

i think 3 buttons make the torso look longer. longer torso=you look like you're taller, and have better posture.

^ no

2 button makes you look taller

and it is personal preference but you should go with 2 button always if you are under 5'10" or so

I don't know

I hate 2 buttons as they make me look shorter

plus they also look shabbier

I love my 3/4 button suits

^^ i haven't bought a new suit since I moved here, but never had a problem in the DC area. Could be other reasons for that though.

I own one suit. It's a black 3-button.

As long as I only own one suit, it's going to be black. I'll never be underdressed.

where to start, I'll make it short

TWO BUTTON is the only way to go, and your suit should be cut slimmer than most people think
and if you've been following GQ for the past oh at least two years you'd know every designer is pushing two button

hedi slimane's two buttons are the killer shit

in conclusion

two button

gq also has 12 pages of naked guys before you get to any of the content, which is just less naked guys with text, i'm not sure i trust it

For the love of god please don't wear them, but if you must then don't wear ones with clips

the only people I see wearing suspenders are those men weighing 300lbs+

I'm glad that I can show up to work in a tshirt and jeans.

I only have to own two suits.

Shit, the last time I wore a tie to work was when I worked at Harris Teeter.

the taller you are, the more buttons you can get away with.

3's come in and out of style, 2's are always in style. imo, 2's look more professional and 3's would be more appropriate for a date/club/function

Where do you go to get a completely tailored suit? I'm tired of paying for recut suits that never fit right... the last time I bought one they had to take a 58 Extra Long jacket and cut it down to a 50 Extra Long because my shoulders are so broad. I've been to Varsity and a few other places and everyone seems to start at about a grand.
