So I'm really thinking about withdrawing from one of my classes. And I looked on TRACS and saw that tommorow (the 20th) is the "Last day to withdraw or drop a course without a grade at the 400 level or below." I was just wondering, what does the whole "without a grade" phrase mean? Does it mean like without a FINAL COURSE grade, or does it mean without ANY grades at all (i.e. grades on a paper, book review, etc.)? Thanks a lot.

If you drop the class tomorrow, it completely dissapears from your schedule and transcript. It's like it never happened.

OK, so you're saying it's still possible to drop it even if I have already received grades on a few assignments?

Absolutely. You'll completely dissappear from your instructor's roll.

^He's absolutely right, although you better hope it doesn't drop you below 12 hours...cause then you probably don't have enough time to get all that paperwork filled out.

what about changing to credit only? i'm taking a class i don't think i'll do well in, and it's not required for anything, but i can't drop it because then i'll go below 12 hours. so if i change to credit only, its just a pass/no pass type deal, right? get a 70, get a pass, nothing on gpa? also, can i just do that via registration online? no need for professor permission?

^you can change it to credit only (pass/fail) online, but you can't drop below 12 hours online

even if you change to credit only and dont pass it will not affect your gpa. credit only is a loop hole in the system that will allow you to drop a class when dropping it altogether would cause you to go below 12 hours.

i wouldn't really call it a loophole. since that category is typically for things that aren't supposed to be done. whereas credit only is a university approved policy.
