they score more goals than anyone else... they wont need defensetalent-wise, england looks really good...except they have no proven GK[Edited on February 16, 2006 at 2:47 PM. Reason : hjk]

There are teams that can put a lockdown on the Brazilian style of play and will only need two goals to win. Dida can't bail them out all the time.Paul Robinson is good to go.

i dont know what to expect from the americans this time around. There is no reason we shouldnt be a legitiment final four team, however our group is vicsous and i never know what team is going to show up. we could be anything from a semifinalist to ousted in the first round[Edited on February 16, 2006 at 3:41 PM. 3/28/2006 11:51:01 AM

3/28/2006 11:55:59 AM
I shall be there.. at least for parts of it.
3/28/2006 11:57:46 AM
The new Nike commercial with Ronaldinho recreating moves from the video of him as a kid is BONKERS.
4/2/2006 1:52:35 AM
i dont know anything about soccer but i watch it all the time the last two years on the fox soccer channel. I watch mostly the Barclay Priemership. So someone in the know -how good will the US be this world cup? What about Japan?
4/2/2006 1:58:19 AM
states show promise (although that slaughter with germany wasn't fun to watch.)japan really needs to beat croatia to get out of the first rounds. Brazil obviously will take the first spot, and i doubt australia will be able to make it into the 2nd position.
4/2/2006 10:15:14 AM
When will Bruce come up with his final roster?
4/19/2006 10:53:28 AM
don't forget about Argentina...
4/19/2006 12:44:09 PM
england and england fans can kiss their world cup dreams goodbye.
4/30/2006 10:55:25 PM
^ that really sucks, i was looking forward to seeing him play, but it might still happen, for those wondering, wayne rooney just broke his ankle.
4/30/2006 11:52:24 PM
It was crazy to see the looks on all the fans faces yesterday. They knew that their World Cup chances just went out the window. Terry and Lampard had the same look.
5/1/2006 12:10:49 AM
you know owen is out right now too and is questionable...
5/1/2006 10:36:38 AM
Yeah, but Owen got looked at yesterday and should be good to go by the start of the tournament. Rooney is definitely out for 2/3rds of the group stage at the very least.
5/1/2006 10:40:02 AM

5/1/2006 10:58:04 AM
haha yea man, is yorke still playin international footie
5/1/2006 10:58:34 AM
^ Yes. Up til the start of 2005 he was "retired" from international play. The TTFF called him out of international retirement, and it's worked out for him as he will get to play in the World Cup for the first time.
5/1/2006 12:25:04 PM
bruce is supposed to come out with the roster tomorrow, and the US is in trouble if they make it out of the group behind italy, or anyone else, because that means brazil second round. and who needs defense when you have ronaldinho, ronaldo, adriano, robinho, juninho, and kaka. that being said, im going with holland.
5/1/2006 5:33:02 PM
^ they have Argentina, Ivory Coast, and Serbia-Montenegro (Yugoslavia) in the first round, no walk in the park either.
5/1/2006 5:40:54 PM
at least they dont have to play in our group
5/2/2006 8:07:04 AM
The USA lineup will be released later by Bruce Arena live on Sportscenter at 6 this evening. Also, he will be on Pardon the Interruption at 5:30, and Landon Donovan and Claudio Reyna will be on 4 Quarters on ESPNews at 7.

5/2/2006 6:46:36 PM
yeah, we dont have to watch the pretty boy suck it up in germany. at least we're pretty stacked at keeper.
5/2/2006 6:53:42 PM
^ yeah and if something happens to one of them, good thing we got Meola...........
5/2/2006 6:55:04 PM
im not believing that meola is currently the 4th best gk....not believing it
5/2/2006 7:03:43 PM
ahaha, did you see meola against jamaica? i was trying to give him the benefit of the doubt, but damn.i guess brad frieldel retired?[Edited on May 2, 2006 at 7:04 PM. Reason : sdf]
5/2/2006 7:04:25 PM
i was at that game....its like he was lost on that goal they scoredyea friedel retired from internation competition[Edited on May 2, 2006 at 7:06 PM. Reason : ghj]
5/2/2006 7:06:01 PM
I was sitting directly behind Meola for that goal. Granted, the defense fell asleep, but he came out at slowly and at some stupid-wrong angle.Friedel is still playing for Blackburn but has retired from international play.
5/2/2006 7:06:14 PM
dang, sports talk punks are gonna hate all the soccer threads this summer, unless they get some punk to be moderator,^ wonder why friedel retired, he's still playing pretty well[Edited on May 2, 2006 at 7:08 PM. Reason : .]
5/2/2006 7:07:19 PM
yeah i was behind the goal also. and thats too bad, friedel was solid. but i think hahnemann is gonna be good in the future. hes pretty good at reading. just bad luck for howard that man u picked up van der sar.
5/2/2006 7:07:37 PM
well unfortuntaely hahnemann is like 33 or 34, so he doesnt have much of a future lefttim howard is the immediate future for gk...but we always have a good gk for the US, i never stress that position, just need good strikers to come up, i dont know why we cant raise a lethal finisher from the U.S.[Edited on May 2, 2006 at 7:10 PM.
