I HEARD ON THE RADIO THAT A BUNCH OF COPS ON HILLSBOROUGH WERE GIVING OUT JAYWALKING TICKETS THE OTHER DAY....COME ON BE FUCKING REAL...IS THIS TRUE??
2/15/2006 3:28:56 PM
yep, heard it on the news
2/15/2006 3:31:18 PM
probably in response to what's happened in chapel hillgood idea toothat shit is dangerous
2/15/2006 3:33:16 PM
WHATS THE FINE...JAIL TIME??
2/15/2006 3:34:09 PM
that is fucking ridiculous
2/15/2006 3:53:53 PM
if a cop stopped me for jaywalking, i'd tell him to get a fucking life.
2/15/2006 3:54:16 PM
i think we have bigger issues to deal with than jaywalking...
2/15/2006 3:55:00 PM
what exactly is jaywalking anyways? crossing outside of a crosswalk?
2/15/2006 3:55:26 PM
or crossing at a crosswalk when you don't have the correct signal, even if no cars are coming.
2/15/2006 3:58:31 PM
COME ON JACKLEGING???
2/15/2006 3:58:54 PM
2/15/2006 3:58:56 PM
GOD DAMN WHY MUST WE FOLLOW THESE LAWSFUCKING COMMUNISTS
2/15/2006 4:04:05 PM
Being a part of the city of Raleigh apparently supersedes & supplants any college community atmosphere that we would want to set up.
2/15/2006 4:06:07 PM
why not target people downtown that can afford bullshit tickets like this instead of fucking students.
2/15/2006 4:07:20 PM
its so you don't get run over, you stupid fucksthey aren't targeting anyonewait 15 seconds and then crossbunch of cry babies
2/15/2006 4:09:12 PM
2/15/2006 4:11:30 PM
2/15/2006 4:11:42 PM
darwin
2/15/2006 4:11:57 PM
I don't agree with crackin down on Jaywalking - but I really understand the point. here's the solution:Check for signal, cars, traffic, and cops. All clear? Cross with care.
2/15/2006 4:13:40 PM
2/15/2006 4:15:43 PM
maybe if i didn't have to wait for 10 minutes for the light to change I wouldn't jaywalk.
2/15/2006 4:17:26 PM
i about yelled at some people at crosswalk for walking when the sign said "don't walk"i shoulda
2/15/2006 4:17:59 PM
3 people, in the history of Jaywalking.Chapel Hill is doing it because of the nightlife.Raleigh is doing it because they're pricks.
2/15/2006 4:20:12 PM
3 people getting hit sounds like natural selection.
2/15/2006 4:20:53 PM
It's a government response to a negative externality like seatbelts.
2/15/2006 4:23:20 PM
i was in chapel hill recently and it is really dangerouse, lots of roads and intersections right on the campus, very bad
2/15/2006 4:39:50 PM
3 people in 3 days!!wtf, what are the odds of that?
2/15/2006 4:47:34 PM
Arresting potheads is a waste of time too.I guess though, at least by enforcing jaywalking laws, they're actually preventing deaths....
2/15/2006 4:48:52 PM
People don't look all four ways at intersections, so it's safer to cross in the middle of the road if you have time to get across. Jaywalking is poorly defined.
2/15/2006 4:49:43 PM
its not like this they're going to keep this upit'll blow over in a few weeks
2/15/2006 4:52:50 PM
Good, maybe some of the idiots that jay-walk while reading will stop getting hit, at least today.
2/15/2006 4:53:25 PM
2/15/2006 4:53:45 PM
you realize the car that hits your dumb ass will be full of people
2/15/2006 4:56:49 PM
I'm sure the car would win, and that is what insurance is for. Point being, being issued a ticket for walkinf in the wrong place is retarded.
2/15/2006 4:58:05 PM
you realize that the people in that car could be hurt or killedall because you can't wait 10 seconds to get to the god damn wolf mart
2/15/2006 4:59:49 PM
they need to drop the speed limit on hillsborough street by campus to 25mph.
2/15/2006 5:00:35 PM
what happened to the roundaboutsthat seems like the best solution to this whole problem
2/15/2006 5:01:52 PM
2/15/2006 5:02:20 PM
ahaby that logic there should be no lawsjust use your own judgement, nothing bad will happeni like your fantasy world
2/15/2006 5:03:15 PM
No, what I am saying is, if using your judgement to get a vehicle through traffic is legal when no other cars are coming, then walking across a street should be legal if no cars are coming.
2/15/2006 5:06:04 PM
hey if i want to drive my car at 100 miles an hour while drunk why shouldnt i be able to. jaywalking can affect traffic too you know. perhaps i dont want to hit you and instead swerve and fuck up my car or kill myself, is that my fault for being kind enough not to plow into you at 35+mph?edit to address recent posts:ill agree if no cars are coming it is dumb, but lets be real...tons of ppl walk whenever they feel like it. thats why they bust drunk drivers even if they are out where no one is. you also are using your judgement to do something illegal eh.[Edited on February 15, 2006 at 5:10 PM. 2/15/2006 5:08:57 PM
it should be legal for everyone to have nuclear bombs in their basementjust don't use them
2/15/2006 5:09:18 PM
You guys are assholes. Do you not even understand my argument? I don't get how one is legal and one is not. They both rely on judgement. Both of them involve entering traffic despite a red light. Why is jaywalking illegal, but not right on red? Is it that hard top understand?
2/15/2006 5:10:46 PM
right on red can help improve traffic flow, no one cares that a pedestrian has to wait 1 minute to cross the street.
2/15/2006 5:11:31 PM
Finally someone with a legitimate answer to my question. Thank you. You are right.
2/15/2006 5:12:18 PM
i prefer being an ass usually.
2/15/2006 5:22:35 PM
if you're too stupid to understand what i was sayingwell thenyou're stupid
2/15/2006 5:30:09 PM
didn't we all learn when we were like 5 to look both ways...does it really need to be more complicated than that?
2/15/2006 5:36:49 PM
Petty semantics, these are the same decisions jaywalkers make "It's the law, but it's hurting no one"I'm not saying that I don't jaywalk, It's something you do at your own risk.
