Actually, this is for a privately owned Federal Prison that is located in Winton, NC. Consultation is all that is wanted from a good lawyer at this time.

One more thing, if your workplace has an at-will policy, you have to know about it, and give your signature that you were informed of it. I know this because I worked for a research company in Corapeke, NC that had this policy, and I had to provide a signature that I was informed of the at will policy before I started work.[Edited on February 14, 2006 at 11:28 AM. ^ You don't have to be informed in this state. That was just a CYA policy for the company that you worked for. As long as the firing didn't violate any discrimination laws, there's little recourse. I'd still talk to a lawyer nonetheless if something shady went down. However, I don't have one the recommend.

my mother is in human resourcesshe tells me that in NC you can be fired for any reason at any time with out any noticethat's pretty much the right to work thing in a nutshell

All of this stuff that you guys are telling me really does not have anything to do with what I am asking here. I asked does anyone know of a reputable lawyer that handles this type of case. My friend just wants consultation from a good lawyer. The 'right to work thing' only says that you do not have to be associted with any union, or such, and that basically you can not be brided to be employed. Also, this 'at will' thing that most of you are yelling really does not have anything to do with what I am asking here. Obviously, my friend read the contract throughly before it was signed for employment, and thinks that wrongful termination is suspect. np. As I told him, for lawyer inquiries the NC Bar provides a referral number that you can call. 800-662-7660. Let them know what kind of case you have and they will refer you to an attorney that practices in that area of law.
