Instead of getting an e-mail on every reply to a thread we subscribe to, I think that places like "Study Lounge, "Classifieds" and "Tech talk" would see a dramatic increase in usefulness if only the first response to the thread sent an e-mail, but whenever the subscribed user visited the page it would reset again and send another e-mail on the next reply. And so on.[Edited on March 3, 2002 at 4:36 AM. Reason : e]

hmm...that is interesting. I just wonder how you could get it to recognize when you have seen the thread. I mean all of the "new" threads dont' become "old" until you close out your browser for a certain amount of time.

has anyone every thought that if everyone subscribed to every topic it would probably overload the nc state e-mail system and make it crash....

Does anyone actually use "subscribe to topic"?

The only time i use it is when i accidentally hit the button when i try to hit 'reply' or something... and then i open my mailbox and there are 20 email in it oh well.

i changed it where it now only sends one email, then includes a "renew" link in the email it sends.
