Als ich vier Jahre alt war, ging ich nach den Hawaiiinseln. Ich ging mit meinen Eltern und Bruder. Wir blieben am Regenbogen-Hotel auf Honolulu. Mein Vater lebte in den Hawaiiinseln, und er zeigte uns die besten Plätze. Der gingen wir Vulkan dimond Kopf war der kühlste Platz.

does that shit make any sense?

Wenn ich Hausarbeit machen muss, ich möchte den disches lieber waschen. Ich würde Vakuum der Zimmer nicht lieber. ich würde auch den Rasen mähen müssen. Ich mochte nicht den Rasen mähen.

Are you trying to say, you went to the volcano diamond head and it was the coolest place?

Try: "Dann besuchten wir den Vulkan, der Diamont Kopf heiss. Der war am tollsten." I wouldn't recommend using "Platz" but if you want to, you could say "Dieser Platz war am tollsten."

i dont think you ussually use the simple past 'ging' in that way like "Ich ging"
use ich habe ... gegangen

With gegangen, you use sein instead of haben.

But you're right, in conversational German they do the perfect tense thing for some stupid reason. Makes it harder to say, past tense takes care of it more efficiently. But who am I to worry.
