Friend of mine and I are buying some armor to fight with. He's been doing it a while. Just seeing if any locals are into it. Stir up some conversation... maybe beat the hell out of each other lol.

I tried to get into the SCA stuff a while back, but, while I like that they have fun with it, I don't agree with how they alter the spirit of it all.

So instead I took up fencing at State... or I did when I had time.

The guys who do that stuff for real are hardcore. Watched a history channel special on the sword and they had some guys just straight going at it with real medieval weapons. Shit was awesome.

Whoa whoa whoa... you're confusing the fighting part of SCA with the whole shabang. I just spar... in armor. That's it. I don't call anyone knight or sir or anything like that. You're also confusing this with LARP (Live Action Role Play) which I'm also not interested in.

Ever spar with a friend and fight? Well what if you wanted to take it to the next level and put on armor so you could really swing a stick hard. It adds a new level of difficulty, skill and fun. At least to me. I was just seeing if anyone else was into that?

I used to fight with my friends with boffer swords, basically pvc pipe covered with pipe insulation foam and duct tape. My friend's brother was a member of the SCA, and he got us started doing it
