this will take research...but off the top of my head, i know the last time that this happened w/o the triangle was 1996 (Wake vs. GT).

one of the big four has been in the championship game only once, in 1990: georgia tech vs. uva.


there have been three times when no triangle teams were involved in the acc championship game:

1962 Wake Forest 77 Clemson 66
1990 GT 70 UVA 61
1996 Wake Forest 75 GT 74
