Being forced to listen to the game tonight on the Wolfpack radio network (instead of goin to Sammy's) wasn't so bad afterall. Did anyone else think that it made things more exciting? I was especially about to die when a shot was on the way because of how you had to wait and hear if it dropped or not. It was nice to not have to put up w/ Billy Packer or Bobby Cremins also, and the 234234234 posts about how bad they suck...I personally love the radio crew. I may switch to 680AM for all the games that I don't attend from here on out...although HD is nice.

I agree,680 and Tony and Gary are some of the best things about NCSU athletics. Even during hard times, you can always be uplifted by listening to them.

I've been turning on the Wolfpack radio and turning down the TV for about 15 years now.

Gary Hahn is horrible. I hate listening to the radio because of him. He is good for football, but is always 5 seconds behind the play in basketball.

OK...maybe nostalgic wasn't the best word..."old school" would be better. I'm just glad we're winnin the close ones also, great character builders.

Fuck, on anygiven game, football or basketball... I'd often mute the tv and listen to Tony and Gary... get to see it, and great commentary, best of both worlds.

^^^ I hate to be contrary, but you're the only person I've ever heard from who doesn't like Gary Hahn.

gary is a super guy ... he just says "check that" a little too often. his play-by-play is usually on target though....then again, i'm a little biased because he and tony said happy birthday to me on the air.[Edited on February 9, 2006 at 10:07 AM. Reason : .]

Gary and Tony are quality. After getting tired of standing around not moving up on the list at Village Draft House, I left and listened to the rest of the game on the radio. Double Overtime is definitely more nerve-wracking when you can't see what's going on!

I used to listen to State games all the time when I was younger.... It was the only way to really get coverage of them at home. Everything was always UNC/Wake Forest/Appalachian in my hometown. I hated all three for most of my childhood because it was forcefed by teachers/family and I didn't like either of the three schools. I always thought UNC looked too girly, Wake Forest was always teh sux0rs, and Appalachian was just Appalachian.I listen to the games on the radio now because I would rather listen to them than Billy Packer/Dick Vitale/Brad Dougherty/Tim Brando.... I wish Terry Gannon called basketball instead of figure skating. He's a good announcer, just needs to get back to his roots.

when watching it on and tv and listening to the radio, you can see when they fudge on the play calling (even sometimes calling the wrong player's name).although it'd be impossible to keep up with some of the pass sequences (they'd end up sounding like a soccer announcer speaking spanish)
